Well im probably looking at getting one with SEAT's recent promotion on APR. I would mostly need it for daily use with going work, shops (leisure activites around 20+ mins away) and that with some occasional work trips which maybe be over 30 miles away which may be more frequent. Normally use the a dual carrigeway frequently for traveling but not much in way of motorway travel. (Currently but cant be ruled out in the future)

Dont forget that the 0% finance isnt that, its just normal finance subsidised by SEAT UK - if you can get a deal and a cheap loan it may work out better.

Based on those distances, a diesel probably won't be cost effective when you take into account the increased purchase price and servicing costs - think you're on the right track with a petrol.

Yes this is probably right. When I bought mine I was considering the 1.4 diesel version but I worked out that with my driving (about 32 miles a day on motorway and traffic jammed smaller roads) it would take me over a year to make up the extra purchase cost in fuel savings. Sure I'll probably keep it more than a year but purchasing the PD would have put me in more serious financial stress at the time.

The Ibiza 75ps is more frugal with petrol than my old Fiesta 1.4 so I am enjoying cost savings anyway (and it's cheaper to insure).

Fords actually aren't that bad build quality wise but i'd say that the Ibiza feels more robust and solid than the newer fiesta and you'll definately feel a difference compared to your P-reg (which I'm guessing is the mk4 fiesta). The Mk4 was a great car, I loved mine but I did have to do a fair amount of work on it in the 60,000 miles i put on it. I'm hoping the Ibiza will stand up to it better. Compared to the Ibiza the old Mk4 Fester feels flimsy. Though I think the new Fiestas are bigger and feel a bit more solid.

It means that someone somewhere is paying for the finance, even if it's not you

which means that a shrewd negotiator could walk in, and get the car x% cheaper than your 'free' finance offer

So if you make no money at all then how can you also give full discount. You appear to have contradicted yourself. Im not knocking 0% but some people do think it really is free and as we know NOTHING is free in this life.

of course we will sell new cars for no money, we will also sell new cars for a loss! our targets run quarterly so if you sell more than your target Seat reward us with higher bonus payments so to sell more cars we give bigger discounts. its the same as finance we are targeted on how many not how much ;)
