Swapping speakers (like for like) in a LCR - how easy??

I'm now the owner of a 210 LCR and 225 LCR!!

I just took my Alpine headunit out of the 210 and put it in the 225
The sound system in my 225 LCR sounds "flat" and "muffled" compared to my old 210 LCR. Seems a little strange

So I was thinking of swapping the speakers, but I read some stuff about drilling out rivets. Is a speaker swap likely to be a pain in the bum job??

Anyone know if SEAT changed the spec of speakers installed between '03 and '04???

P.S. I have adjusted the headunit settings to be exactly the same (Loudness switched on, but flat bass/treble settings)

I changed all my speakers in my 210 LCR as 2 of them packed in and stopped working. :flame: to just change them from one car to the other seems pointless to me, if you are going to go to all the effort of taking the door cards off, drilling the old rivets out and providing you get the speaker out without cracking the plastic surround, the reversing the whole process to put them back in, i really wouldnt bother mate, its just not woth the agro fella, took me about 2 hours to put in my new speakers and crossovers etc.

PS, if you do cange to aftermaket speakers you need mk4 golf speaker adapters for them to fit in the doors.

i think there was a mix of speakers doing the rounds in the lcr.

I had 2 LCR's, both 225's and the first one had really poor top end treble from new, the second one had failry decent sound and didn't clip on the bass as badly as the first.

Removing them is a ball-ache as the tweeter transplant is a right PITA. I ended up silicone sealing the Alpine tweeters into the original apertures which wasn't ideal, but was better than modding the doors or dash to fit.

You do have to drill the rivets on the woofer unit to get them out, then fit the Autolead brackets between the door skin and the speaker. Its not a pleasant job.

I would use mdf to make a spacer up - much easier. cheaper and a better speaker mount material.

I had hoped that it would be a simple case of whipping of the door trim off and then just loosening a few screws. Dream on!!

I loved the sound system in my 210 LCR. It had clarity and bass without booming. My 225 LCR seems to be a bit monotonous and boomy. I might just have to live with it for a while - I'm not really in the mood for drilling and chopping in the cold dark nights!!

Maybe I could swap the whole doors LOL!!! but black doors don't look too good with platinum grey.
