I'd rather be able to get the power I have down onto the road and hold that power while cornering, instead of having more power but bouncing off the road or having to back off a bit.

Agreed and that can be done very cheaply

Dog Bone engine mounts £25-£80 (part only) makes yout TCS work less hard and reduces wheel hop

Front Strut Brace £50 from you local Audi Dealer + fitting

V true Rob,am in the same kinda position as the original poster(Chris) and not sure which way to go,think will be wheels,suspension,cat back exhaust then finally remap

My thoughts exactly, as I spent some time reading and reading on this and other forums and those two items kept coming up. And I know from previous cars that more power doesn't always amount to being quicker all the time.

The no1 value for money mod still has to be a remap, if you change the induction and exhaust etc and want to make the most with a further remap then most good tuners will do this cheaply e.g. Revo was always £50 ish for upgrading to stage 2.

This might make me sound really stupid, but do any of the suspension upgrades not involve lowering the car? I have an awkward drive to get onto and unless I get the angle right it already catches the pavement.. so lowering isn't a great option for me.

How about something along the lines of a Carbonio Cold Air Intake along with a Neuspeed short shift conversion, ARBs and maybe a Koni suspension upgrade (so long as I can avoid excessive lowering)?? Thoughts....?

You could use the Koni FSD dampers, new anti roll bars and new strut braces with the standard springs, and greatly improve handling without making it any lower at all.

OR,

You could get some coilovers and set it to whatever height you want, as well as the anti roll bars and strut braces.

I noticed a huge improvement just changing to koni sport dampers, and retaining standard springs. I can highly recommend a rear ARB too, makes roundabouts sooo much fun

Unfortunately tuners advertise massive headline power figures and use words like 'custom' to trick punters into thinking they are getting something they are not. Some sad people think they are getting a remap from scratch on their car to suit their mods......perhaps this is available but not at the proces you see advertised. The truth is that the 95% of tuners just tinker with a few permaters on a base map and calls it custom or tailored.

You can usually get the remap done before the mods and tinkered with / upgraded after for a nominal fee

The above Sounds excellent to me, the Koni RSD's are a great upgrade so I am told and won't lower your car and make it look like a rude boy Saxo special

i got the dog bone mount bushes but have not noticed any real difference as yet. My new 18's with Toyo Proxes T1 - R's will arrive thursday so maybe the dog bone bushes will kick in then????

i'll wait and see.

The short shift is a decent cheap mod.

S3 lower strut brace is only £20 so maybe worth a thought. mine is still lying in the boot so can't comment on it's worth.

S3 lower brace made a noticeable difference on my car, and took only a couple of minutes to fit once the car was in the air.

Turn in is a little sharper, and it is less gittery in a straight line.

Anyone fitting it to a TDI might have to modify the plastic skid cover.

Unlikely, I opted for the EIP replacement bushes and mount which is expensive at £80ish but it transformed the car

If you fit the OMP one it will still fit beneath the cover but it's a bit of a tight fit. The S3 one is flat so i would have thought it would fit ok?
