traction control.

light comes up on dash when driving shows its operating.

if you press it it dissables it, (not totally i believe) and a light with be on permanently on the dash.

advantages, it may stop you ploughing into the nearest hedge.

advice, (seeing its coming on alot) learn to use your right foot properly ;)

disadvantages, cuts all power when you need to get away fast because someone comes around a roundabout fast. In the dry I switch off at all times.

Basically the TCS only kicks in if the wheels start to spin.

I.e if you pull of very quickly the wheels will start to spin, so the TCS cuts the power to stop it spinning, hence you getaway marginally slower, however it will save your tyres!

If its totally dry then tunring it off will allow the tyres to scrabble slightly but it will grip and pull away faster as the power is not held back at any point.

Unless you make a habit of dropping the clutch and screaming off the lights you wont notice much difference i guess, however in the rain its a must as its spin city if you turn it off lol

Yeah that's so annoying!!!
If it kicks in and you keep your foot planted it will cut power so much you go nowhere!! You then have to lift to let the engine pick up again!!

Although saying that I have had the wheels spin right up to the redline with it on in the dry before, must have been a particularly poor grip road...I so need a dogbone!!!

A dogbone mount will only do so much - it still won't have any answer to just dumping power straight to the front wheels and keeping your foot planted!

only worth getting if you have a remap as i see you do
but yeah, i turn tcs off only in the dry if i want a bit more fun
otherwise i always leave it on, the light permenantly on the dash annoys me

Its a useful little button...It interferes to much sometimes though..I only turn it off if im about to have a play. Its on otherwise as the light annoys me.

Just order'd an LSD...May never see that light again. :)

I have a LCR 210 but has had some work and I am told (by previous owner) that it is around 270bhp. When I give it a bit of stick is spins in 1st & 2nd gear. I take it most people with engine mods has a similar problem. What are my options to help stop this?

Cheers

firstly booting it in 1st wont do the car much good. especially as its modded.

as for puttgn power down better an uprated done bone mount is a great mod at not too much cost. (basically lower engine mount.

use the search on here there is lots of info on this.

(two options, one is using existing mount with uprated bushes. the other is a new uprated mount. neuspeed i think.

go with the uprated mount. simplly uprating the bushes can lead to excessive vibration.

i presume your car has been remapped. revo by any chance? what other mods you got? just the remap will see you getting 260bhp ish.

oh and im my opinon the traction control only dumps loads of power if you would be blatently spinning up or keep your foot in.

if you feed in the power and only spin a little it does dump it all and i find its prety good. (ESP not sure if it fairs better than just TCS).

however it is a safety feature not a performance feature. so its no ever going to be a case of you putting your foot down and the traction control gettign you to accelerate at optimum speed.
