Just a question about how high you can take the revs safely.

Basically if im driving I usually try to keep the revs below 4000-4500.

From a standing start what rev amount wud be safe to goto to get the fastest 0-60 time?

And this is going on the basis the car has been heated up(90 degree oil etc).

heated up i go to 6.5k the red line i try not to take it past that but it will rev to 7k before the limiter hits! nothing wrong with tasking it to the redline when giving it some stick
wouldnt do this every minute of every trip but its fine to take it to the red line

as long as the oil has heated up and car is at operating temperature then just before redline would be fine on occasions but you will find that you will pick up speed alot quicker changing up gears at 6k revvs!

I find anything above 4,500rpm a little useless (but then I would, damn derv!)

I normally change at 3.5k in 1st (useless gear!)

4.5k in 2nd, 4.2/3k in 3rd, 4th @ 4.1k then 5th at 4k

I've found the TDI quickly runs out of steam past 3000rpm - mine seems to respond better to shorter changes - use the torque rather than the power

6.5k if going for it in every gear only when its ful warm though 3k normal driving

The TDi might feel like its running out of power at 3k, but thats simply due to the torque dropping off quickly.

Max. Power is achieved at 4k on a TDi and maybe a tad more with a remap.

So changing at 3k would mean yes your hitting your torque nicely (in some case im sure your clutch will love you!) but you wont be getting past me :D

yea 1800 to max 3500 is the best for maximum attack of our oil burners

You either haven't got a remap, or haven't got a Cupra TDI.

Mine will easily pull to the redline - it's almost petrol like, and the torque doesn't drop off at all...

Find that hard to believe! Mine will throw you back into the seat at peak torque, and it sure as hell dont get that feeling when I put my foot down at 4k!

Even when the car is standard it still pulls to 4,000rpm just a little slower to get there!

You wouldnt be saying it was gay when i left you in a cloud of soot mate and then carry on leaving you in said cloud of soot all the way to 153 mph. :gay: boy ;)

its not a cupra or remapped, standard FR engine

stock figures state both engines torque peak at 1900, telling me your mapped cupra is a lot faster than my standard FR is pointless, like telling me a 911 will be , obvious

Who was talking about my car being faster? All I said was that mine doesn't run out of steam at 3,500rpm.

Standard torque figures are like an 'n' on paper - drop off very quickly.

Really? Mine does. I do have peak torque quite high, though - like well over 2,500 rpm. Maybe that's something to do with it?
