story time for anyone who's board!...
picture the scene...

10pm saturday night. there i was traveling down the A38, approximatly 70mph..give or take:D everythings fine until suddenly *BANG CRASH DING BONG BANG...etc"

At this point i start to think "what the F*ck is that!!!" traffic is none existant so i progress to slow down as quickly and safely as possible, with the rattling noise still present. at first thought it sounded like id ran over something, and was cought around my wheel and being banged through my wheel arch
there are no lay-bys near, but i had no choice to pull onto the grass verge and put my hazards on.

i got out the car, walked around the car checking the wheels....nothing....all clear. it wasnt until i went round the back of the car i noticed......

... My Magnex stainless steel exhaust hanging out from under the car, that i had dragged a 100 yards down the road at high speed!! :( with further investigation, the joint on my back box and middle section had completly split, leaving the exhaust to drag down the road on its rubber hangers. i had to get out of danger ASAP, so had no choice but to rag the studpid thing off its hangers, and stick it in the boot!

i crawled home with a very noisey Ibiza...but it made a nice "popping" sound when i let off the accelerator

left the car the next day with my mechanic brother, armed with his trusty welder. the result => the exhuast is never coming off again

the exhaust suffered minor cuts and bruisers at the back where you cant see, but no dints or splits!

verdict - Magnex exhaust are made from un-breakable material :-o

I was laughing my head off imagining a rabbit got caught in your wheel and was spun around at 70mph, lol

BTW I know what you mean about the car sounding great without a backbox. The backfiring popping noise they make is awesome :D Glad to hear everything is fixed now tho.

The exact same thing happened to me two weeks after I bought my Fiat Punto(RIP)! I was making a 300 mile journey up country along the A303 near Andover and was going a completely legal speed;) !
When all of sudden I heard the *BANG, BOP, BANG, SCRAPE etc
Though I was under the impression it was a can of coke bouncing around in the footwell or the boot, so I was thinking fu#K I need to stop before this can explodes on me and my interior! Pulled in at a layby and found no can of coke, had a peek under my car and the exhaust was hanging off being held on by the rubber mounts, Luckily I had my trusty swiss army knife on my key ring and cut the exhaust off and stuck it in the boot! I then drove the remaining 100 miles of my trip without an exhaust, but I had to buy a whole new exhaust as it was completele rusted through! Though the friendly people at the Fiat garage I bought the car from were happy to give me the money!
Thank god for warranties!

its gone now my exhaust is back on! i want it back!

does not having a back box on make a difference on fuel consumption? i seemed to use a tanker full of fuel on the way home, but they may of been due to a heavy foot trying to get home
