Hi Peeps,

I have been doing some searching and its hard to get a definite answer so don't flame me for not searching :)

Coming up a hill near my house today, and went to floor it, there was a slight jolt/bang and the traction control light came on......then a few mins later the engine management light came on.

Hooked it up to VAG.com and came up with the following errors:

Address 01 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 6K0 906 032 AA
Component: 1.8L 20VT EU3 0002
Coding: 10500
Shop #: WSC 00000
1 Fault Found:
16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low
P0102 - 35-00 - -
Readiness: 0000 0000

Address 03 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 1J0 907 379 AF
Component: ASR 20 IE CAN 0001
Coding: 13404
Shop #: WSC 00000
1 Fault Found:
01314 - Engine Control Module
79-00 - Please Check Fault Codes

I believe the engine issue is the same problem as the MAF one.

I took a look at the engine to find any blown of tubes or anything and couldn't find any. And checked for split hoses and couldn't hear anything.

I have let the car run and then pulled the MAF wires out and the car runs as normal at idle, if i try and plug it back in whilst running it nearly stalls.

The car runs as normal still though or as it did before...with the MAF connected (not tried it not connected) and boosts fine or as it did before. It isn't in any kind of limp mode.

I have cleared the codes and once revving the faults just came back again.

I have a 007 Forge DV and a Piper X induction kit on it (fitted about 2 months ago)

Any helpers would be appreciated.

Ive read it could be a fuse? if so which one??

Could i get any readings out of VAG.com to find out if it was definetly the MAP knacered...

Cheers

Rich

Do any of you guys know how to find a cheap supplier for MAF's apart from through Seat?

I've got a 1.8 20vT X Reg that is showing absoutely chronic problems when cold or in bad weather - I'm certain it's the MAF since I cleaned it using IPA and get another good month in the car.... but it's gone again with the bad weather.

What's tyhe best supplier? Do I need to supply a chassis number?

Any help greatly appreciated!

its really just a case of going to the stealers or going to a VAG tuning place, some other places will have them im sure but i know of none

i normally go to stealers or awesome GTI, theirs probably somewhere closer to you though

Hi,

We keep replacement mafs in stock. You will need to replace the whole unit as it includes the sensor.

The best price that we can do is £65 delivered, but we would need your old one back as an exchange.

If you came down to us i can fit it for free

Cheers, Alex

Hope that helps matey!!!

Cheers for that!

I got their phone number and will check them out tommorrow as well as the local stealers - engine codes and chassis numbers need collecting first though.

I'll let you know if I get one good and cheap without shedding any sweat.

Laters!

I got one from www.gsfcarparts.com (GSF Car Parts) for £65 - after quotes from awesome of £93 and my dealer for £88.

GSF also have 52 branches so it's only a 5 mile drive for me to excahnge the unit avoiding surcharge etc...

Should be happy again tommorrow!

P.S. They also did a knock-off unit for £37.50 but I didn't fancy trying that one... genuine Bosch confirmed for £65+VAT however.
