Installed a JVC KDG-722 today and all is fine apart from when you turn the ignition off the headunit loses its memory, so everytime i start the car and put the unit on all the radio and last track and equaliser settings are back to factory default. Could it be the wiring for the car or the HU as the aura i had before was fine?

its not really much of a problem loony, program one station in, turn the ignition off and remove the key for a minute then turn it back on, if the station is still there then all is welll.

Slightly different question but when I recently installed my parrot car kit I obviously had to remove the radio (standard aura), and when I replaced it I obviously needed to enter the code but all the radio memory (presets, settings etc) were still there....was surprised as I expected the disconnection to wipe the settings......

Hmm weird. I thought it was ok - the preset stations seem to remain in the memory when I switch off the ignition (eg overnight) BUT it does keep coming up with the demo mode even though I turned it off, and it forgets which song on the USB or CD it was playing.

I guess I do have to swap the wires after all!!

Hi, I selling my car, so im putting back the standard aura HU. The radio works fine. However, everytime i remove the key from the ignition and then put key back in the HU asks for the security key.
Its no longer working without the ignition key. I have check all the cables and all are plugged in apart from one blue cable. Can't see where to plug that in. Can anyone help?

Thanks

I think that is a setting on the hu you can choose to have to put the code in every time the ignition is switched on:confused: you should find it in the menu, i may be totally wrong though:shrug:

I think it's something to do with the two wires in the car loom needing to be switched over, the memory wire and power supply wires Need to be swapped. Check with a multimeter which ones are which and if they correspond to the wiring on the HU loom. It's certainly the case on Audi wiring and peeps just swap the wires around (red with yellow stripe and the yellow with red stripe on Audi's) .
