Koni FSD's and Eibach springs (now with pics)

Hi,

I have done a search but couldn't find what I needed?

I want to uprate the suspension on my 52 plate LCR. The general concensus appears to be to do both shocks and springs. I am looking at the Koni Sports Adjustables on Awesome Gti's website but they all say "excluding LCR"

So is there a special code for LCR versions of this kit or am I out of luck? Awesome want £305 for the kits - is this reasonable?

thanks in advance.....

:)

(new suspension now on - see bottom of page for pics)

i think its because the LCR is a mix kit in that it uses part of a TT kit and part of a golf 4 kit

what drop are you after?

koni fsd shocks may be the way to go with some eibach springs

drop awesome gti a line and also big boys toys (both in discount forum) and see what they recommend

does this mean that I can't use the 'sport adjustables' then? The price quite appealed to me! The fsd shock people mention - is this just the shocks? I'm looking for a 30 - 35 drop, nothing too drastic and I want to improve the handling.

thanks again

I am getting Koni FSD's with Eibach springs, approximately 20-25mm drop...

Give Sarah a shout at Awesome she might be able to get you the sports adjustables it just may not be listed.... If not I am sure she can help with other suggestions...

Just to conclude this thread....

Today I had my new suspension fitted. I went for Koni FSD's and Eibach prokit springs.

It looks great and more importantly handling is improved. I would actually say the ride is more comfortable than standard. It feels more attached than the standard set up.

If you can afford it later a couple of larger antiroll bars really compliment the lowered suspension. I had Bilstein PSS coilovers (about 20mm lowered) then added a Neuspeed 28mm rear and 25mm thick front ARB and it transformed the car.

On an LCR?

What price did you pay for the kit if you dont mind me asking? How much labour/fitting charges as suspension is the next mod on my list.

Getting really fed up with the harsh ride of the LCR now:(

ARB's are worth it without suspension.... they made a massive difference and Awsome do a great job with the Neuspeed ones....

Made an amazing difference and on track it made an even bigger difference... Worth every penny. :)

Just over £500 for all the kit, springs and FSD's. My local garage did the work for £70 including alignment.

Only had them on for a couple of days and just did a long journey today including a mix of b roads and motorway. I would say the ride is actually better than standard, it seems to be a lot less crashy over low speed bumps. However the setup really comes into it's own along high speed b-roads, it felt really confident and planted.
I used to own a DC2 Integra Type R so I know what a good handling car should feel like. I was extremely dissapointed with the LCR's standard setup and this combination seems to have restored my faith.
If anyones interested I can post pictures so you can check out the ride height - this was a concern of mine before purchasing.

Not great pics unfortunately.
From experience the springs will settle to be a little lower but I am very happy with the look as it is. I think it retains the standard look - sort of how it 'should' have looked from the factory?[B)]

That looks stunning, nice one :) Not tooo low, but enough to make it sit nicely on the wheels.

How's the drive? Have you had problems with speed bumps, car parks or anything else where the front splitter may catch? I've already caught mine in a multi story car park so I'm wary of lowering it too much.

I haven't had any problems with the ride height as yet, and I live in an area with fairly rough roads! This was a consideration for me and I decided coilovers would end up being set at this height anyway so i'm glad I opted for this setup.
The drive is much improved, at high speeds the car feels more stable - as standard I though it wandered a bit on the rear. Around town you wouldn't even know, it's very smooth.
I know anyone who gets new suspension really raves about it but I recommend the FSD's, they live up to my expectations.

Is the low speed ride less crashy than the standard setup? Did you go for the ARBs too and have you got a front strut brace?

I've been looking at the FSDs for a while...

I think it is firmer at low speeds but definately less crashy.... if that makes sense!! What I mean is you don't loose fillings when going over pot holes! I always found my self avoiding any rough low speed surfaces with the standard setup - the FSD's seem a big improvement. My car has only covered 25k, on a 52 plate so they weren't exactely worn.

I just went for the springs and shocks, I want to add bits gradually to see the effect. My next mod may well be a front brace.
