Ok im clueless about speakers and subs when it comes to cars. I still have the standard aura HU in and want to know what my options are for upgrades. I would likely have to go to an electrical place to get it done as im no electrican.

Not too fussed on looks just something hidden that sounds better with a bit more bass, not sure if i NEED a sub or not but wouldnt want to hack away at the car to fit it. What are my options realistically £ wise for a moderate/cheap but better setup

Hi schnipps, you might get a better response from the ICE forum: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=28

However if you ask me, i'm a fan of a stereo that does more than just play cds i.e. usb and sd card reader or bluetooth integration. Sub and amp could be secondary as you can base you system around the headunit. All comes down to your budget.

I thought a budget of £350 - £450 was a decent amount for an ice install but after shopping around for decent kit i quickly found out this wasn't the case.

I'm now going to do mine in stages.

HU first
then front speakers
then sub and amp

to keep costs down i'm going to have a crack at doing it all myself.

Keep in mind that i'm no expert! Depends what you are after i suppose. Head units vary in price depending on functions, whether you want ipod functionality, DVD etc.

Have a look at these websites to get you started (and to keep costs down avoid halfords! £100 more for the head unit i'm after). Shopping around is the key

That should keep you going for a while!

There is cheap and theres the expensive root

Cheap root:

Possibilly better root:

Parrot CK3100 kit: - http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/88519
and
Elax stereo:- http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/104104

The above is a good starters kit however there are better stereos out there in the mid £150 price range.

Hope this helps

Searched around, no 4 Gig ones. USB drives will be the way to go or stereos with built in HD's

Thanks for the offers/help people. I have just ordered a jvc head unit with usb port on it which i like the look of and a facia kit off the bay, so once these are fitted i will look to upgrade the door speakers or add a sub somewhow.

KDG722 RDS MP3 CD PLAYER USB £92.00

I like the look of it and it does everything i need and for £92 its a bargain as its 20 quid more expensive from car audio direct, just need to grab myself a 1gig usb stick and thats it for now.

The JVC isnt too bad. Pioneer and Parrot do some BT stereos however id rather go for one with usb and install a seperate parrot kit
