I'll be taking mine back to jabba for another remap anyway and im sure Mike will sort it all out!:)

Anyone know how labour intensive a turbo swap is? Is it a couple of hours labour? Something you can do yourself? Im sure i read the exhaust manifold needs to come off?

If you go on the garret site theyu have a guide for teh ko3 so i dont think the k04 will be that different. Think your main worry is seeeeeezed bolts etc

Group buy for AVC-R boost controller maybe.
Mitchy we'll need new dp,manifold and turbo gaskets mate. I'll see if i can find the part no's.
For referrence my dealer mechanic told me it took him best part of a day to remove the mani/turbo and refit etc, alot of feel work required.
Apparently there is more room to work than on the ibiza's so thats in our favour.

New DP? You getting a turbo now wild?

Yes mate, I enjoy my motor and i think this will enhance it. I ain't got the bottle for a full on BT and this fills the gap nicely. I know why your hesitant Scotty and after our last outing i don't blame you which is why i won't encourage you to commit to this group buy. But Yer mums figures are impressive i saw them on the day. After this my thirst for power will be quenched. i may do a peloquin diff and thats it then. Thing is Scotty if this takes your fancy i'm sure jaccob will look after you at any time in the future.
just to clarify above posts the dp, mani and turbo are all gaskets.

A day to fit a turbo:blink: I thought it would take a couple of hours at most, as you have fairly easy access and its just nuts and bolts! Does the mani come off aswell or is there room to slide the turbo in with the mani still in place?

I hope jabba can do the fitting and mapping in a full day then if i decide to get it mapped, as i dont want to leave it over night as its a pain in the arse getting home!

Im sure Jacob will look after Scotty and anyone else for that matter at a later date, although Jacob did say a 10% rise was going to happen due to the pricing increase from KKK:shrug:

Wildwilly, if you can get them part numbers ill get them ordered through SEAT as soon as, cheers! There should be 4 of us over that 300 barrier when all this is done mate, 1 IHI and 3 hybrids:) Are you going to stay APR mate or are you going to change? I am stuck between Jabba and CC, swaying more towards jabba due to the boost controller fitted though.
Im like you mate, im enjoying the car too much to get rid of it and ive done quite a few mods now and im finally getting it to the spec that i want and think this hybrid will set it off nicely! Finally no more hunting for power lol!

I wouldnt know what to replace it with tbh hence why im going to keep it for another couple of years:)

Its the 020 with the threaded insert for the EGT sensor.

I have discussed this in detail with jacob and he assures me they are exactly the same turbos, the 020 was for cars without the EGT sensor.

Jacob has checked thouroghly and assures me they are identical, i have asked him about dimensions/housings/wheels etc and he says yes he's checked and they are identical!

So im more than happy with him modifying it for the EGT sensor, otherwise it will be a 14 wk delay on him receiving the 023 housing turbo.

No i dont think they are any cheaper mate, he hasnt mentioned anything.

If you were to do it scotty, would you get a new unit from him or send him your current k04? Im sure he'd sort your leak when rebuilding it?

Don't need to take mani off to fit turbo! Your looking at around a minimum of 5 hrs labour maybe depending if they have done it before and know what they are doing! So £250+ @ 50£/hr
Thats good news as the seat tech told me that access to the oil and water lines was a no goer with the mani in situ. Leaving the mani in place cuts the odds of sheared bolts etc considerably.

Email Jacob and ask him mate, tell him you have a leak coming from there and ask if it is going to cause any problems?

Jacob has a good reputation, and he offers a warranty on his work, im sure he would sort this problem for you and send it back as good as new!

Scotty i think your turbo is 100% you've just convinced yourself it ain't. If your sensor is leaking then were all leaking. They ain't the most solid of fittments. i bet if most people give em a shake they'll find loose play in it.
