I've been looking at Leon interiors online for some time now; and i've notice alot of people choose to keep they original CD player and not buy a new MP3 player.

Why is that ? I was thinking of buying one but now i'm not so sure anymore.

Depends on what you need. I liked the Aura unit in mine but found that it was annoying to keep swapping cd's in the magazine. Since taking it out and having my Alpine 9855R in, I have a broader selection of music via my ipod connection but the hassle of having to trawl through the selection is difficult. Newer units a have better UI on the Alpine. I do like the intergrated look of the Becker units whereas my Alpine sticks out even though I have set the illumination to the dashboard colour.
You can get more functionality out of the Aura via changing out the/a CD changer for an mp3 player. If you want a bit more, you need an aftermarket unit.

Is it possible to adapt some sort of memory stick or an MP3 player with a memory stick to the Aura player ? I don't mind changing CDs all the time since i gotta stop @ red lights anyhow :D; I'm just looking for a little more confort really :).

Also is it possible to fit a remote control on the steering wheel for the Aura ?

It would be via the CD changer port on the back of the headunit. By playing the songs via the connection its basically a perfect copy from the ipod whereas the FM transmitters are a hit and miss affair.

my mate has an fm transmitter for his IPOD, the range is massive!
you just set it to a frequency and tune your radio into that frequency and it plays!, however they are illegal.

I've always wanted to record an my own bogus news flash

It would say something along the line of:
"We interrupt this programme as we have just recieved word that the middle east has set off a nuclear missile and it is heading for britain"

Then when i'm stopped at busy traffic lights on my way to work, start transmitting it on the radio one frequency and watch the faces of people around me

I have the FM transmitter for the ipod. It's ok at lower volumes but if you like your tunes loud through the car radio then it starts to crackle and pop.

So you're saying there is a cable that will fit the Leon Aura HU to allow a connection to a DAP (digital audio player)?
- What type of connection? 3.5mm headphone jack? USB? Optical/digital?
- Do you know where from and how much?
- Also, can you keep the CD changer or is it a case replacing the CD changer connection with this external source connection?

Sorry for the many questions, but I always thought this wasn't possible. I have an iriver H120 DAP (better than an ipod :p ) and would love to hook her up to my car.

TIA

you keep the standard headunit, there is just like a little box with a wire that plugs into where your CD changer plugs into. Then you just plug in the 3.5mm jack into your ipod and away you go
Its that easy but they arent the cheapest. I think about £50

Have a look on some of these
www.thebassbin.co.uk
www.caraudiosecurity.co.uk

i think they do adapters for OEM headunits

Yup. A company called Soundlinx make them. If you go to www.soundlinx.co.uk you can find a local or web based dealer and as for one of these product codes:

SEA01AUX - For cars with no CD changer fitted
SEA02AUX - Also requires part number MOD01AUX but, I believe, it allows you to use the CD changer as well
SEA03AUX - Boot fitment version of SEA01AUX

These all turn your CD changer connection into an AUX input, so you can use MP3 players, laptops or anything else similar. I believe they have twin RCA (phono) type connections, so you may need a 3.5mm to twin phono adaptor as well.

Enjoy :)

short answer: NO. The OEM changer is not compatible with any after market head unit.
