Condensation in Lights

Engine Idle Problem

Hmm i don't think they like me then!

My car was there because it vibrates at idle. It did the same last year and they replaced the DMF and clutch.

I got car back from the dealers after giving it in yesterday. Apparently the 'technician' coudln't find anything wrong with the car. They said that the vibration is only very minimal and they would only look at it further if it got worse!!

Obviously i was pissed off. After a bit of arguing, they asked me to drive the car to see if i could replicate the problem. After a quick drive around the block the mechanic admitted there was a problem with the car and they booked it in next wednesday for 3 days, as they have to remove the gearbox [:@] [:@]

Was going through the old threads and found your comment about your vibration at Idle. I have a 2 month old Ibiza FR Tdi 130 and have the same problem and the dealer is being less than helpfull about it, did you ever get yours sorted??
I think I may kill them if they tell me again that the vibrtation is just cos its a diesel.....ahhhhhhhhhhh

After I purchased my car, one of the front headlights was steamed up. I think its because of the valet they did on it (which i actually told them NOT to bother with, because of the dreadfull stench they leave behind). It seems that SEAT cars have a ventilation problem! Maybe MK5 will have this fixed.

RE: Spainish Air in the headlights - hahaha, pull the other one!

The Common Fault

Both My Headlights On My Cupra Done The Same Thing, But Mine Had Water Sitting In The Bottom. The Way You Sort It Is To Remove The Backing Plastic and all bulbs On Both Headlamps And Hold A Hot Air Gun Or Hairdryer On Them It Takes A While But When All Water Has Dryed Up Condensation Will Not Occur Again!
Water Got In My Lights By Using A Pressure Washer To Clean The Car And Front Pannel So Avoid Using Pressure Washer In This Area.

Just done mine with the hair drier and vaseline treatment takes 1-2 hrs to do, i would not reccomend drilling holes into it as you would be more likely to get water in it again.

It's happened to me as well: I've got misting in all four corners (just the driver's side front is shown in the link below). I first noticed some when I was washing it a few weeks ago (it soon disappeared). I went down to the Forest over the weekend (when it got warmer but wet for some reason), and the mist was there when I parked up and didn't disappear when I came home.

This latest lot came from a 20-mile trip tonight (mostly motorway) when the temperature was around 2C-3C (by the car's dial). Think I'll pop the photos over to the dealer sometime...

Mine gets a lot worse then that .. pretty much fills the entire unit, the dealer still says "oh they all do that, you're just noticing it because they are clear at the front" .. yes thank you, silly 2 year old me with an IQ as big as my shoe size - so no joy here at getting it sorted by the "pros"

Does anyone know the "definitive" reason why this happens on so many Ibizas? I can't believe that so many seals could be broken. Maybe it's because the lighting cavity is rather large or something. I know that hard disc drives have little carbon breather filters (sometimes laced with dessicant) to keep moisture out and balance air pressure... is that what the "breather unit" is others have mentioned? (Any excuse to dismantle an old hard disc... [B)] )

The trouble is the lights aren't actually sealed and airtight. Mine normally mist up when there is a sudden drop in temperature, especially if the air is very humid. The inside of my windows at home are covered with condensation at the moment so if I were to look I would imagine my headlights will have condensation in them now.

I would be interested to know if the lights which have had holes drilled in the covers are still free from misting?

well, I've drilled holes in the covers of mine and the only time I have seen a little misting was after driving in silly mega rain, full speed wipers and still couldn't see

other than that they have not misted up at all

And you just drilled holes in it...nothing else?
Because i saw a few pages back that someone has fitted a tube pointing downwards at the hole so no water can leak in the unit.

just 2 4mm holes in the cover, one up top one down the bottom

like you say about the tube thing, maybe it works even better

Same here I have 4 holes in each of the covers and they have been mist free for the last 2 months :)
