how do you rest the ECU? (yes iv searched!)

ok i know that you can do this by disconnecting the battery but it doesnt seam to work for me! :(

can you reset the ECU with vag com?!

bassically i am playing around with Custom Code software and i tried the speed limiter thingy, so when i take my car in for a service i can put a speed limiter on it so no one car rag it!

at first i tried the speed limiter at + 40kmH went for a drive and expected it to work and then realised that it should be minus!

so i set it to -128kmH (so if the car can do 150mph it should now be limited to about 90mph right?!)

thinking about it... do you think this didnt work as the LCR doesnt have a limiter as standard so thus u cannot adjust it?!

anyways the reason for this thread... after loading the new settings to the ECU it says... "the new ECU settings have been written correct. Please cycle ECU power for settings to take effect."

i have disconnected the battery for 20mins and that made no difference.

someone told me i need to pull the instrament pannel fuse out whilst using custom code and that didnt work either!

can anyone help? (how do i cycle ECU power?)

cheers!

Sounds like scary stuff!

The speed limiter would be an excellent idea. Last time I picked my LCR up from SEAT after having a sensor replaced the average fuel consumption reading was on 9 MPG.

Told the service manager if it is like that again I want a word with the lad who drove it.

Isn't it like that because they have been running the engine without the car moving?

Presumably the ECU will have to have an internal battery (you wouldn't want it to loose all the settings if your battery went flat).

no ideas if there is an internal battery but if CC says... Please cycle ECU power for settings to take effect

then it must be possible!

but how?!

good and news...

good news... to cycle the ECU u simply turn the ignition on and off! :D

i turned the load scaling factor down from 100 to 50% went for a drive and wow lol... think i was hitting 1psi... car reved so slow... i then turned it to 80% and i hit about 17 psi i think.

i then put it back to 100% and then went to try the speed limiter, which i set to - 128kmH

i hit an indicated 120mph on the private runway which proves it didnt work or as i believe we dont have a limiter fitted and thus cannot adjust it!

makes sense i guess! :(

shame as it would have been great to be able to limit ur car to around 80mph for when it goes in for a service!

well at least i can turn the boost down to like 10 psi! ;)

J@mes im sure revo take off the limiter so i would think flubba do too?

lol flubba!

good point scott... maybe they do!

tho as standard because our car are ONLY (lol) rated at 150mph max i assumed there was no limiter as u only see cars that can do 155mph and over with a limiter  (EU laws?!)
