has anyone on here converted an ibiza 2.0 16v to a turbo?
im just looking into how much this would cost?
does it make the car undriveable?
and does anyone know where i can get further information on where i can get this done, ive tried turbotechnics but they have stopped doing thier full conversions now. please help and thanks in advance

i would say go 1.8 20vt lump in it.

Or if you wanna be seriously different there is a mk4 ibiza Cupra TDi engine on ebay at the moment, whole car is being broken

www.tsr-performance.com charge £6250 for full coversion engine and all the bits

there is a few companies that can put the Vr6, or 1.8T in your car for you just need to research.

btw many use aftermarket ecu to make it easier to covert as 1.8T has lots of sensors

I would think this would be interesting to do - you could light pressure turbo an ABF without having to touch the internals, run a dastec or similar piggyback ecu and an extra injector if you go over 200hp (the limit of the std abf injectors) - would be really interesting to do this sometime, plenty of k03's knocking about for next to no money and turbo manifolds are available off the shelf in the US...hmm.....

Telford ay it...
What do you think the cost would be? Would it be possible on the 8v?

Im sure ultimate velocity in the uk would sell the manifolds, they do complete kits.

Been done on my passat too!!

16vt is the way to go, i'm still waiting to finalise the map and put a stronger brakes/clutch then i'll start bullying those pesky 20vt guys that think they're the shizzle:lol:

The abf is a cracking engine, every bit as good as the 20VT and better in some respects when the tuning gets serious (single valve springs on the 20VT is a major weakness as is getting high compression witha 5 valve layout)

It would be interesting to compare the relative costs of turbo-ing a 16V vs installing a 20VT....when you consider all things involved

I'm building up a SEAT ABF turbo at the moment ;)

I'm actually taking a step backwards to G60 management and using a custom SNS chip.

Ebay.de manifolds and ebay.com T3 turbo (= cheap). Should run about 240hp on a very conservative tune - plenty in a street Mk1 Golf :)

cool - keep us posted as to how you get on - have you dropped the compression at all ?

Not "properly" I'm using a Bahn Brenner spacer plate, which drops it down one point, so should be around 9.5:1

It's definately a budget job, but I'm interested to see how reliable it can be.

I was tempted to leave the compression standard as I don't like the idea of a spacer and won't run much boost, but we'll see how it goes. I hope to have it on the road by the end of the year :)

I would be tempted to see how much boost you could get away with on stock compression, may try this myself at some point,
Looking forward to seeing how you get on

One of our guys was running a merc charger on his ABF with standard compression but was only running about 0.6 bar but he's since had the pistons machined to get about 9.2.

I'm running 1bar using my spacer plate.
