Today i fitted and apexi boost controller.

WOW. Awesome piece of kit.

Before with the manual boost controller there was a pressure drop at higher revs from 19 PSI to around 15 PSI. Now with a tweak it holds 1.3 BAR as far as i dare rev it :)

I have also adjusted the soleniod duty cycle for low revs, it now pics up alot quicker with less lag between gear changes. Also i have reduced the boost in 1st gear so wheel spin is kept to a minimum.

It really makes a huge difference and i would highly recommend one of these to anyone. There is so much more this thing can do, but thats enough for today.

The car defo feels more powerful up top, could be looking at 300 BHP.
Will have to get it back on the rollers and find out.

Wiring in wasn't too bad, you just need the car specific wiring diagram which luckily i have access to at work. Setting up isn't too bad if you understand duty cycling, a worth while mod

No fault codes as yet. Running sweet. Although doing some logs today and Air flow was reading a max of 170 G/S which cant be right, gonna put another MAF on it toomorrow, This was the first time i logged it.

Sorry no pics of install but i will try and get some. I can also try and find out where you need to wire on a Leon if you want.

If you wouldnt mind. Id lioke to do it but would like to see one thats done to see how it connects in. I take it you just run (twin??) solinoids to the same pipes?

There is a MAP sensor that needs T'd into the inlet maniold, and the boost solenoid the goes from top boost pipe to waste gate actuator.

All wires are spilced into ecu wiring harness, of the top of my head there are the following:

1. Throttle postion which is taken from pedal signal wire
2. Engine RPM which i have taken from Cyl 1 Injector wire ( so it also reads injector duty)
3. Speed signal which comes from gearbox sender
4. Live which comes from ecu feed
5. 2 earths also from ecu earth

Iam sure there is 1 more but cant remember it right now

interested also, if their solenoids are good for my boost levels and fast control

This would be handy for you bill. It has smoothed out the boost.

Also gear judge would be good on yours limiting boost in low gears will help loads with traction.

There is also 3 settings you can have eg, OFF (no control) setting A which could be full on race mode and setting B which could be wet weather mode.

I think it can control up to 2 BAR but not totally sure.
Control seems very fast.

This is some great info matt. thanks for posting.
I run over 2bar boost, so hope something like this is possible to control.
other features you mention sound nice. well handy limiting 1st & 2nd gear boost for starts.
Wondering how this would work with the ecu when conflict of request is made.. so a >200mbar deviation occurs and stock ecu goes stroppy in limp.

how much are these things and where did you get yours?

Mine is borrowed of my mates CRX Turbo until i have the funds. You can pick them up for about £ 250 of ebay.

The control range iam sure is up to 2 KG/CM which is very close to 2 bar but i will confirm this later, what pressure do you run Bill?

Top bit of kit though and well worth the cash in my opinion

I will work on a guide. The hardest thing was working out which wires i needed to tap into.

You tap into gearbox speed sender, although its not designed for vag cars it does give a reading.

It takes the engine RPM and divides this by the vehicle speed so it stays constant. Mine has a reading of 145 in first gear. You input this into the apexi and set the duty cycle according to the level of boost required. This can be done it 5 gears, so for stupidly powerful applications like IHI. Mine doesn't spin much in 2nd in the dry so 1st gear is the only limited gear, but iam going to do setting B for wet weather where 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear are a big problem.

Scotty. Iam presuming your engine is a BAM so here is where you need to wire yours too. Its all in the Engine ECU harness ( all connections are spliced. All Pin numbers are for engine control unit plug.

1. Red Wire Ignition Live - Any ignition live Cant seem to find it on diagram

2. Green Wire Earth - Pin 1 or 2 Brown and Red cable This must be connected nearest the ECU. 2.5mm diameter

3. Black Wire Earth - The same pin as the Green wire and must be after the green wire further away from ECU. 2.5mm diameter

4. Purple Wire Injector signal/RPM - pin 96 Purple wire 1mm wire.

5. Gray wire Throttle signal - Pin 73 yellow and green 0.35mm wire

6. White wire Vehicle Speed - not on this wiring diagram, will find out.

If you know how to read wiring diagrams i could always post you them.

Here is a link to the installation instructions (PDF File)
