1/4 mile is all about the launch...mess it up..wave bye bye to a good time...I was at TRAX last weekend..and was shocked at the leons doing the 0-60 sprint...Best i saw was 7.8...It was all stickerd up aswell, thought it may have been special.

Really wished my car had been there, probably would have set a much better time, a LC pushing 234bhp and 267 ft-lbs torque. but it was in the shop having bilstiens fitted. My m8 managed a 5.98 in a vxr, but it should have been doing Mid 5's..but he kept messing up his launch. :(

would have thought it would be slightly quicker than that,,, i thought they were 6.2 to 100kmh at the standard 240ps output.... so at 300bhp i would have thought with a very good start a low/mid 5 sec would be achievable!

If u read the post..i did say that..I also said he only managed a 5.9 because he kept messing up his launch..It was the second Time he'd been to a 0-60 event. Sure he'l improve as time goes on.

James, have you experienced any clutch slip yet? Your 1/4 mile hard launches must be doing some damage?

I replaced mine yesterday and there was not a lot of friction plate left lol :D

I had only ever done 3-4 launches on it aswell, and they were half hearted attempts compared to yours;)

Is yours 240mm aswell? Where in the rev range is it slipping and are you experiencing any excess vibration?

Normally with a slipping clutch you can damage the flywheel so dont leave it to long if it is slipping, luckily mine was fine, thank god as they are certainly not cheap

mine seams fine mitchy! (touch wood!)

im hoping it wont go whilst i have the car!

how long do they usually last on a mapped car?

my car is 19months old, got mapped just after a year/10k miles :)

also wat sort of price we looking at? if i replaced mine i would deffo get an uprated one. whilst its off and especially if ur fly wheel needed skimming, i wonder how much a lightend and balanced flywheel would be?! ;)

I got my car remapped around 20000 miles ago and its been slipping on/off now for around the last 5-6000miles

It would only do it though in 5th/6th gear below 3500 rpm. If i got caught below 3500rpm, i would either part throttle it until above 3500rpm or change down into 5th/4th.

I had the clutch fitted yesterday at JBS for £220 which i thought was a good price. I supplied clutch.

Standard flywheel is £550-£600. No idea how much a lightened flywheel is

JBS offer a swapping system on your flywheel if it is knackered! He'll replace it for another used but skimmed flywheel for around £150. He'll then send your flywheel to be skimmed and sell it onto the next customer and so on and on. Thought that was pretty good really seeing as a new 1 costs 4 times that amount! Luckily though mines was fine!

Another VAG based tuner quoted me £350 fitting and was adamant i needed a new flywheel at £550. He told me my flywheel would definitely be damaged and need replacing if the clutch was slipping! Just pays to shop around lol :D

I fitted a sachs paddle clutch with an uprated 430lbft pressure plate. No real difference in pedal feel either which was good!

No more slipping :funk: and allows me to progress a bit further with BT conversion:)
