Hey, does anyone have any pictures or information on the honeycomb grill part for the new Leon?

Cheers.
Dan :)

Funny you should ask as I picked mine up last night! It fits in behind the existing grill and screws on to it. As usual SpareMan is correct, the label on the box has the same part number and descripition.

After spending several hours :)redface:) trying to fit the damn thing I managed to remove the grill and get it fitted :funk: . I also got the Chrome Strip for along the boot but have not got any photos of it yet, although it looks really well.

Here are a few pics...

I had this fitted to mine before I picked the car up from the dealers in December. Cost about £20.

Not hugely obvious but it does provide a useful barrier for stopping leaves, salt and other crap getting sucked through the standard grill!

Hey LeakyTurnip,

I'm thinking of getting this grille...would it be possible for you to add some instructions of how you finally got it fitted? If you can get me the instructions, I could document the whole process with pictures in a step-by-step form to help others!

Thanks!
AW

HI Spareman, I need to ask how on earth can I get one of these parts, do you have any handy hints. I have just got off the phone from Letchworth Seat and they tell me they can't order this part as their order system says "not orderable" [:@] - Was I being fobbed off by a jobs-worth or did I go about it the wrong way?

Is SEAT Warehouse a different place to where the dealers get their parts from? You may have covered this in a previous thread and if so, my apologies!

Any assistance you could provide would no doubt help me and others get this snazzy little add-on!

Thanks,
AW

Hi All

Never had a problem getting my grill. Ordered it from Seat dealer & 3 weeks later it arrived from sunny Spain. I was talking to the parts man & he said that if it's on Seats web site & you have got a part number it can be ordered.

OK...so I made further enquiries. I swapped dealers, a benefit of working in the south and living in the north...went for a northern one (SG Petch in County Durham) and gave him the details. He called Seat with the "S1" part number quoted above...they couldn't find it (weird)...called me back and I asked him to check the number without the "S".

I got a call back in under 2 minutes saying its a "shelf" item and there were 2 in stock. He could have it delivered by tomorrow! How cool is that...other than I won't be there until Friday :)

So...the lesson I learned from this, apart from there still is a north/south divide (and comments like that don't help, I know) is that the item is a "shelf" item and it should be ordered as such from the parts department.

If one parts dept can get it, any should be able to.

One last thing...there were 2 available. After mine was ordered it means there is another out there waiting for the first lucky person to convince their local parts department that it truly exists!

As others have noted, drop the S from the beginning of the part number, looks like that was generated by the dealer (S = SEAT part ?).

Not good news, still showing 2 available so your part has not been allocated. It is also showing as not orderable since the part has not yet been approved. Classic SEAT to make a part available that has not been tested full yet. For those that have already had one you have been lucky!! Once the part has been approved parts should be released, but no backorders will build up until this has happened. Keep checking with your dealer to find out when the bar is lifted

It's abit of a fiddle.

1. remove the 2 plastic rivets.

2. Push the bottom of the grill in then up. (It moves up about 1/2")
3. The fiddly bit. The grill is now held in by a retainer eather side about 2" from the top. I found it easier to remove the 4 Hex bolts from the plastic panel that runs along the top of the grill assy. You don't have to remove this panel just get your hand down the front of it. You can then see the retainers eiter side. I then used a small screwdriver to prise the grill from the retainer. Be carefull not too prise them too much or they will snap. Once they have been popped out just pull the grill forward & it's out.

Thanks Trapper, I want to take mine off to sort a stone chip right on the lip.

On a different note has anyone ordered or see the little chrome surrounds for the front lower grill and fog lights? they look quite nice in the picture on SEAT.com, just wondered what they look like in the flesh.

Got my grill, but the destructions above seem a little out?? plastic rivets -and 4 spline screws no problems, but my grill only seems to move 5mm and there appears to be two sets of retainers each side is that right??
UPDATE
After much heaving and pulling I have chickened out and retained the honey comb grill with two black tiewraps 3 x 100mm under the S badge as per photos - will try when the weather is warmer to fit has per OE!!
