Hi, does anyone have the necessary language skills to find out some more information about the grille shown on this forum? (post by 'gneko' just over half way down the page. I think he made this himself, but it is exactly what I am looking for - honeycombe in place of original vertical slats

http://www.autotitre.com/forum/Forum-Seat-Leon-II-61981p566.htm

Thanks

googled;

'If not, rather than to buy it at an astronomical price; you sizes that of origin as on me Leon… '

looks to me like the standard sear one, ala syphons pic, without the vertical grille refitted.

I thought it may be just the standard Seat honeycomb grill, but that has a rectangular section cut out at the top, this one doesn't appear to have that.

@ Rubble2

The grille they are discussing is the MS one.

Seems that they are quite happy for it, especially in combination with the chrome trim.

Hi Leon DK,

The MS grille is the one fitted to GTO's car, the one on Gneko's post is different - no badge. See the post by GTO timed at 10:20 for a comparison picture. I think one on Gneko's car is one he has constructed himself, I would like to know how he went about it - what he used to create the grille etc.

Thanks

I agree that this looks like the standard honeycomb grille with the front slats removed, but if you look at 'Leaky Turnip's post earlier in this thread the honeycomb grille has a cutout at the top to fit around the bonnet release mechanism (I think). The grille on Gnecko's car doesn't seem to have the cut out and the honeycomb mesh completely fills the chrome surround. Can someone who has fitted the standard honeycombe grille confirm that the cut out at the top would be visible if the vertical slats were removed?

Thanks

think it can be the original grill.

I have seen more in Germany that have been build together to close the holes.

Also that is what gneko indicates with his modifications.

Thanks for the reply LeonDk, do you have any information about how that is done? I would like to try this for myself so any help from someone who has already achieved it would be very useful.

I fitted the seat grill and thought it looked crap. I sourced an alternative on the web which totally replaces the original front grill with a full honeycomb mesh one, to this I fitted a small seat badge from the rear of an old model toledo and it looks suberb, it totally changes the front of the car.

This grille is now listed on the seat uk accessories page on their site priced at £16.83 inc vat. So must now be a uk stock item:D

still trying to source one as the website is hard to understand in another language...

this one is cool too as the honey comb matches the actual bumper grill a bit better..... no idea what grill it is though and if it comes in black..
