@Damo H : “
At the end of 2018, due to changes in emissions, the cars engines and exhaust systems were revised. This meant the FWD 5 door dropped from 300 to 290. This was due to a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) also known as a PPF (Petrol Particulate Filter) being fitted to further reduce emissions. These are fitted after the standard Catalyst. There are also some revisions to the injection systems but won;t bore you with those details.

So as part of these changes Seat also introduced some other changes to the trim, this included the Copper S badges.”

So 18 plate is good, but 69 plates are not, right?

Man, they don't make it easy!

Sounds like it 😂 I’d want a VC, but without the GPF and electronic handbrake. I prefer a manual handbrake. But I don’t think manual handbrake VC 5fs exist. I could compromise on the handbrake, but not the GPF.

Thanks for sharing, that would be the same for me, as for my wife, she prefers auto, so I feel like a good compromise is to have a decent enough dual-clutch gearbox...

But then the question arises, because if I'm reading it right the mk4 sounds like a lesser upgrade to the mk3, then what would be a good alternative choice without having to rob a bank? I had a look at the i30N right now, and while the price surely is alluring, it does look more like a track car than a daily driver (road noise and suspension harshness, interiors quality, to name a few).
I've a Mk3. For me I not keen on manual controls disappearing into the infotainment system, especially the heater controls, of which in the Mk.4 I could just not live with hence I've still got the Mr.3, so I'm just debating on a 128ti of which the suspension just handles our UK pot hole roads much better than my Mk.3 which just crashes down the hole whereas the 128ti absorbers the shock, but both been a firm ride just in different ways, that said the 128ti has no boot once a spare is placed in, maybe my Mk.3 will last longer than me if I take care of it..

I am keeping the MK3 (Its 10 years old already) and I have very expensive coil-overs and have to say the potholes are much better than they were with stock suspension.

No car is perfect but the MQB Platform (excluding the evo) is very flexible in terms of being able to change the car to suit your individual requirements.

Might be wrong but fairly sure you can retrofit the VC https://eastyorkshireretrofits.co.u...rtual-cockpit-retrofit?variant=34924292112549

You can retrofit a VC, but it’s difficult. Need find a unit from a crash damaged car for example, then it’ll need coding, mileage correction, fitting etc. Upgrade to MIB2 if on MIB1. And most fitters I’ve spoke to said all the features available on a stock car with VC from factory wouldn’t work anyway. Not worth the money in my opinion. I’ll just get my next car with a VC. I prefer having a screen in front of me (driver) and no screen in the middle of the car, Audi TT-style.

Thanks a lot for the info about the GPF, had no idea and was just now eyeing the 300 from '18 and was just asking myself why they dropped those 10 HPs on subsequent models.. now I know :D It's just unfortunate it's basically one of the last models with a manual gearbox. The electronic handbrake is a loss but not too bothered by it.
