Would MAF affect boost?

I was having some MAF problems recently, and decided to try replacing the MAF with a Merc 220cdi one (as seen on this site somewhere). The car is a 2005 Ibiza Cupra Tdi.

I have fitted the MAF, and other than the fact that it shows as a fault code has all but solved the problems. One thing I have noticed though, is that I dont get boost until 2250 revs now, and below this, the car is really flat and lifeless. Would the incorrect MAF be the cause of this?

I can do some logs, if someone tells me what blocks to log, if it helps.

The MAF on my Punto JTD is buggered, I just run it unpluged and its fine, but when its plugged in boost doesnt hit in when it should and its all at once, fun when you hit it though and it pushes you right back. Cr@p off the lights though.

yes it would. the merc maf was a popular fix sometime ago not sure if its still relavnt for newer tdis... i would try an original maf, at least then if you still have the problem then you can rule that out.
