Wiring component speakers correctly to standard car wiring??

I started resealing my door panels at the weekend and found I had 6.5” components in the car front and rear. I was a little surprised as from my Toledo I know the standard aura systems sounds quite good.

On closer inspection, who ever fitted them, shouldn’t have. They kept the original adaptors in the car riveted to the door panels and tried to ‘hot glue’ the speakers to them. I’ve never seen such a botch job.

I have ordered 6.5” adaptors for the doors to mount the speakers correctly, I have also managed to mount the tweeters in the doors in the original positions rather than stuck to the metal door area by their magnets!?

I have put in stereo systems before using amps etc but wandered if I can simply keep the positive and negative wires from the crossovers to the middle two wires of the mids (4 pin connector) and if any other wire mods are needed due to the tweeters of the original system etc?

Basically how should these be wired up? I have been searching for a while and as yet not found the info I’m after.

Are you sure the hot glue isn't sealant.
It's possible it's been done to fix a common water leak.

If that's not the case, then I'd trace the speaker cable back to where it enters the door and put your new crossover there, then correct +/- to tweeter and mids.

No, it was different for the sealant for the door. The speakers physically wont fit the standard adaptors and someone tried to glue them in!?

I didnt know where the cross overs are for a standard car so wasnt sure whether more needs doing when connecting aftermarket speakers with crossover to the car.
