Hello,
I would like to ask for a, hopefully quick, advice. I had my Leon 1P (2009, post-facelift) to a windscreen replacement, where the mechanics probably did not know how to handle wipers in the standing position specific for SEATs.
Probably, during the change, they used a bit of force to move the wipers and destroyed both wiper linkages. When I got the car back, the wipers were in servise position (down) and struggled a lot during movement. They were always coming back to the servicee position and everytime I started the car and got moving, they tried to "wipe" once. Eventually, they started getting stuck in certain positions and after a while, they stopped moving almost completely.
I have ordered both of these pieces, left and right linkages, but I am unable to successfully change them. Whenever I install them, the wipers do not move.
The motor is OK and spins as it should. I think the problem is at the nut connecting the linkage to the motor. The original piece had a small thread inside, which fitted nicely to the motor’s spinning part, but the new ones are completely smooth and do not have any thread inside. Therefore, even if I tighten it really hard, the motor just spins inside the linkage and the linkage stays in place.
I’ve already tried two different brand of these linkages and both came completely smooth, with no thread inside. I am not sure what to do now and how to fix this - whether it is an issue of these cheaper-brand linkage or wheter I am doing something wrong. However, if it’s the threads issue, it renders the linkages completely unusable.
Attached is a picture of the original linkage I have removed from the car. The thread I am talking about, which is missing on all the pieces I have ordered, can be seen there.
Thank You all in advance for any advices and I apologize for my terrible terminology. I am not sure how to properly call the nuts and threads.
