Winter Work - Opinions please guys!

As the winter is fast approaching and the fact that I'm currently unable to drive because of a recent accident, I'm looking to get a bit of work done to the car while it's not being used.

So far, I've decided to get all the wheels refurbished (mainly because a mate managed to screw one up while borrowing my car) and the whole car could do with a respray because its started to suffer from the trade mark 'paint fade'! :(

- Firstly then, I currently have dark blue wheels on a yellow LCR but was wondering what peoples thoughts were on colours? I had been thinking black, but is that being over done now?
- Secondly, while I'm having a respray, I was considering having the roof (and maybe the bonnet) and such things as mirrors sprayed in black. What do you think?

Pictures on any opinions would be great too!

Go for the colour for the wheels you like and black will look really good, they sound popular on a forum but i never see LCR's on the road and if i do they are 9/10 standard. As for the other parts im not sure - mirrors are easily and cheaply reversible so id do them panted and vinyl the roof as it will look painted all but right up close.

Where would I go to get vinyl applied? Sign writers?

I'd say do it yourself but you won't reach from your wheelchair ;)

Cheeky sod, although yeah.....you're right!

antnee, he has the roof on his Ibiza (his yellow one anyway, I dunno if he's managed to sell it yet) vinyled, he might be able to give you a few pointers.

Has he!? That proves how long it's been since I last made it to a meet! I'll drop him a text and see what he's got to say about it.

Gavin - Do you know of any where near us that does wheel refurbishment's? I've found a couple of places, but I'd rather go for someone thats been recommended.

Thats a good point, I hadn't thought about danboy! I'll drop him a PM and see what he has to say.

I had thought about calling Dave, but I've still not heard back from him about completing the work on my car (recommendations from the MOT) that we discussed when I collected it after he looked over it. Think I might have upset him after the 'steam' issues!

Nar, I've not chased him once actually because I didn't see there being any point due to my circumstances. If you see he, just update him on my situation for me please so he knows I've not taken it somewhere else etc.

Once I'm back up and running I'll pop it in to him so he can work his magic, but thought I'd concentrate on getting the cosmetics up to scratch during the winter period first.

Hi Dougie, just reading your post and why not get the wheels refurbed but in the same dark blue - will certainly be different and will lok cool
As for the roof, make sure you take your time if doing vinyl yourself - I would pay someone to do it just to make sure

Cheers bruceR! I had considered just sticking with the blue because I do really like it, but all the places I've spoken to so far about carrying out the refurbishment seem a bit unwilling to try and get a match. Also, I didn't think the blue would look too great if I did go for the black roof etc. As for the vinyl, I wouldn't attempt it myself. I couldn't be arsed spending HOURS trying to get it 110% correct and still end up messing it up!

Still on the hunt to try and find someone for both tasks though! :( If anyone knows of places in or around Nottingham, feel free to let me know!

IMO I don't like black bonnets, to me its trying to look like a CF bonnet, but black roof and mirrors are the shiz! :) Im not sure what the LCR mirrors are like, but if they are similar to the beeza's then they are mainly just a cover which comes off, get some from a scrappie/ebay/here/leonownersclub, get some paint and sandpaper and have whack at it your self.

As for the wheels, black spokes with silver rim (and behind in silver)? with a silver S too?

Audi Nimbus grey for the wheels, would look good on yellow.

Tidied up my winter wheels with some spare paint I had lying about.
