Winter Performance

I know that in winter your car is supposed to drive better, but mine seems like it has really opened up. I can tell there is cold air coming in via the intakes as the engine seems more beefy when I rev it - it actually turns heads! Car acceleration also seems quicker. Today I made mince meat of a Mini Cooper and a Ford Focus 1.6 (dual carriage way and stuck to spead limit!). Bearing i mind i have a 1.4 i was pretty impressed!

I'd agree that the Cooper probably wasn't trying.
Did you see the Top Gear where they had the Cooper vs the Fabia VRS? The Fabia was quicker but not by loads. And that's the 1.9 130TDi as opposed to the 1.4.

But, your car might have a bit more ooomph when the weather is cold and the air is quite dry.
I have noticed that if it's cold, but the air is wet it makes the engine feel worse, rather than better.

....but hot and cold weather do affect MPG slightly...since the airin winter is denser!
