They just greased it up, the passanger side works fine now, drivers still makes the noise by they said it will for a bit until the grease settles in! The bloke run the technical team and they reckon this isn't a common problem, just they need grease regularly

Have only just found this thread... wish I'd found it earlier.

I asked Hidsons in Maidstone about this, and as far as I'm concerned they suck balls, because they told me this was normal and not even a lack of lube (both mine make this noise) and my car is now out of warranty.

Since I can't start a new thread and because it's somewhat on-topic, can any of you mk2 owners tell me whether the left mirror should adjust when the right mirror is selected (only the left moves when left is selected)? My brother-in-law says his Touran did this, plus I've just checked a 2009 Octavia which does the same thing, but a work colleague says his Ibiza doesn't. Mine never used to do this and has just started in the last few days.

Regards,
Stuart

As far as i know, the dual mirror control adjustment is a Vag-com option which can be enabled, disabled. Mine doesnt do it, but ive seen threads on how to turn it on. Doesnt explain why it would just start workign suddenly though. Maybe its a MFD option? Might also depend on which position you have the mirror selctor switch in?

Leon, did the grease on the drivers side fix the problem. I remember when you showed me the mirror working and it sounded terrible. Cant think a bit of grease would have fixed it?

Also, was that garage in birmingham that you took it too, Colliers? Cause i dont trust them at all. They missed all sorts of things on my service.

Fortunately theres a new Seat garage just opened about a mile up the road from the tyburn island called Central Seat. Just wondered if you'd try'd it?

Mike.

Yeah, just seen the dual mirror thing after reading the VAG-com thread.

Lots of weird things have happened as well. My MFD no longer makes the "bing" noise when you go over 100mph. No idea why it's stopped, nor how I was supposed to ever set it to whatever speed I wanted. My manual only shows me pictures of the enhanced MFD, whereas I have the basic one.

Unfortunately, the car manual looks like it was written in Spanish and translated to English by Babelfish, and so many things in there have a star and say "optional extra" that I have no idea what the car is or isn't supposed to do.

Here's another question. When you lock the car, are you supposed to press the lock button once or twice? If I press it once the fuel filler cap is locked, press it twice and it unlocks again, even though the doors are locked.

Stuart
