For those with headlight washers
When your low fluid level comes on,do your cars deactivate the headlight washers to preserve the remaining washer fluid?

Mine does, but someone I spoke to the other week says theirs doesn't

Maybe something else seat have removed from later Leons

Maybe it can be activated via vcds

Does anyone know how much the tank holds?

Mine came on this morning and I was going to get some more on the way home. Checked my ebook manual and it says they didn't now at time of going to print!

My non winter pack takes just shy of 4 litres from bone dry (maybe an inch left in the bottom of a 4 litre can).

Thanks, bought a 5ltr bottle and a funnel because I'd no doubt I'd manage to slop it everywhere, especially trying to fill it up in the dark!

Reviving an old thread but is there any way of turning off the headlight washers temporarily? In the summer months the lights do not get dirty but fluid is being wasted on the lights, obviously in the winter months this is something that I will turn on again.

If the lights aren't switched on they don't get washed.
(Daytime lights on their own won't get washed but if dipped lights are on they will get washed)

Mine doesn't. Went to use yesterday, run out of fluid and no indication.

Mine ran out the other day, I just assumed it would have an indicator - it's the first car I've ever owned that hasn't! Even the wife's povert-spec Hyundai has got a warning light.
In my defence, I top up the washer fluid every time I wash the car - I just haven't washed it lately :)

In the UK at least I heard its part of the winter pack (or if you had headlight washers).

So if you have headlight washers you have a larger capacity washer fluid reservoir and the sensor to show low fluid warning.

I don't reckon that is totally correct. I have the winter pack and do get the warning, but my washer reservoir is only 4 litres. IIRC, the Golf had a 5.5 litre tank (with headlamp washers)...

My Owners manual says approx 3 litres if no headlight washers fitted, approx 5 litres if the car has the headlight washers.

I have the Winter pack so have the Headlight washers.

I now wait to see whether I will get a low fluid warning or whether it will just run out. I'll also measure how much I put back in.

May also look at having the headlight wash frequency reduced via VCDS if it keeps running low too quickly.

Same here, can't believe it doesn't have a low level warning light. The car tells you when your tyre pressures have dropped, the outside temperature etc but not the windscreen wiper water resivoir level - absolutely bizarre, the first car I have ever owned that does not tell you this!
