Seems Microsoft is now offering the Windows 11 upgrade to unsupported machines. I note on Microsoft user forum people seem to have got it but not 24h2 which is a can of worms for some:

Microsoft speaks with forked tongue on their support to put it on unsupported hardware. So it was always going to be an interesting one as people moved from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and tried to get onto 24h2. I don't think the unsupported hardware enforces the memory integrity side of it so probably installs better whilst fully compliant hardware on Windows 10 could stumble on W11 24h2 upgrade. SSD and appropriate memory and processor is required. 13 year old systems happily run on it but obviously not for gaming. Doing the task they were designed for all those years ago they happily function on W11.
For those that do nothing they probably will get hit by a virus post October as the article mentions. Like when NHS PCs got put off line in the UK since security patches hadn't been applied with Windows 10. A corporate thing of enabling security patches as the system manager deems. No more security patches for Windows 10 users unless you take out a software warranty with Microsoft or upgrade to Windows 11 or junk the hardware.
Upgrading to W11 24h2 is hampered for some with non compliant drivers and memory integrity of drivers subsequently installed and non Microsoft virus programs. Probably best to leave the drivers alone first on all and if using the ISO you toggle to not update now else you can introduce rogue drivers non compliant with Windows 11 upgrade. Will stop early on in the process at 20% or so. If it gets to 70%. Probably memory integrity see the other post. That was my issue on a fully compliant laptop. Was an Adobe DVD driver that had been installed probably via Lightroom. Fault finding with vague error codes is the order of the day.

Don't leave it until it's too late—here's why.
