Window Tints

Bit of bad news today!! Got caught in the ministry check in margate and the VOSA people took a particular interest in my window tints! The issued me with a prohibition order! I had a hour to get the vehicle home, ten days to have the tints removed and get it the prohibition lifted. Suffice to say a razor blade was taken to them as soon as I got home!

i live a the bottom of bluebell hill! think i saw you in town ages ago, when i first got my car. we had a little play up the dual carrageway towards the BP garage! ive got a silver mark3 cupra aswell!

What percentage were your tints? i know its totally illegal to have anything on the front now but would be intresting to see if they only went for you if you had really dark ones, not saying you did ermm if you get what i mean,

I thought that there was a lower limit on the front than there used to be, summin like 25% is legal! (i thought)

I heard that you cant have any aftermarket tint ahead of the b-pillar. I am looking to getting tints done next year, nothing too drastic, nice and subtle, to stop the kids moaning about the sun!!

i believe the law was changed in Jan 2004 (I think). And that was that it is illegal to have any tint ahead of the B pillar....and anything behind is fine....HOWEVER if the tints were installed before the law was changed (pre jan 2004) then up to 25% (or 30% i really cant remember) on the front windows (not windscreen) is acceptable.

yes,that's right. they have got to let in 70% of light in. that is pretty much a factory tint from what i can make out. my advice would be don't waste your money getting them done. although there are sooo many arguements for allowing them!
