the windscreen is tinted? is it darker than the front sides?

any tinting on the windscreen is illegal and anything above 30% is illegal on the front windows, but i and few people have the fronts with a light smoke....but dont think i would risk getting the windscreen done!

no tinting company will tint the windscreen...so was most probably a bodge job by the previous owner

don't understand why anyone would want to risk doin it

all windows come 30% tinted at the front anyway dont they? i know they did on my old astra....

and tbh guys i wouldnt go saying that you've got 35% all round which as you've already said is illegal...you've got pictures on here with your plates and the areas that you live in....i've just qualified from a PCSO to a response officer....i'm into modding cars and everything and so obviously going to turn a blind eye about all this...but just be aware the police from your regions do go on all of these sites! i've been in the office when checking on other forums!

Ive got my front windows tinted and have had no problems so far. they are the lightest tint they make and cant really see much difference but in the dark it just gives it that extra bit more. The backs are darker than the front and so it gives the effect that the fronts arent tinted.

I got all mine done £150.

no cars come with tinted front windows, some manufacturers may tint the rears from factory to a pretty dark shade (often 35-60%)

all windows have some tint in them but is very, very light - not even a 10% tint

I really don't see the point it doing a light tint on the front that you know is illegal what is the point you will only have to take them off one day and you can get fined as well is it really worth the risk for a tiny tint?
From what I understand you can have no tint at all on the front windows, is this wrong then?
The law is stricter now I know that much.

Untrue - When my mates bought there Corsa's back in 2001 one chose the option of a tinted windows and the other never - there was a visible difference between the two front windscreens.

Maybe the laws have changed since then though?

windscreens? i know mercedes tint their front windscreens a different colour to reduce glare (greeny/purple) however it is no darker than a standard windscreen

this is probably what they meant, i highly doubt a manufacturer will further tint the driver and passenger windows

i did mine all-round as i want it to look natural, not attracting unwanted attention, and to give the car an overall better look...which they have

i hate seeing cars with limo tints on the rears and the fronts are clear as day...or boy-racers with really dark tints all-round - they look tacky and always get pulled, rightly so

the law states that the passenger and drivers windows allow roughly 70% of light penetration, this is due to safety issues when driving at night.

You can tint the front windows but the problem is most modern cars now come with a slight tint in the glass. On paper there is a legal tint but as soon as it goes onto a car with the slight tint it becomes illegal. One of my mates thought he would be smart and question a copper that stopped him about it and when he went back to the station they tested it and it was 2% over the limit :cartman:

The reason I have tinted the front windows is because it blends in well with the back then. Also it can be good for if someone decides to smash your front windows to break in most of it sticks together and you get minimal glass inside the car.

I thought people would say that I agree looks stupid with limo tint and then clear front windows, personally I think limo tint looks stupid on any car no matter what. I will not get limo tint on my rear windows as I think it looks stupid and also so it doesn't make the front windows look stupid and blends in a bit but I will not touch the front ones.

Tinting the front windows WILL attract unwanted attention not thieves trying to look in but the police not worth it is all I am saying and trying to see why you have bothered.

i hate cars with limo at the rear and nothing at the front, also hate the same tint all round, i think it only looks good fading from dark to light, and i notice a biig difference between 30-35% i think the 35% looks a better fade compared to the 30% which is too light

yer 35% does look a lot better than 30%...but having the same tint all round still makes the back look darker as less light is getting in through the rear windscreen ;)
