hi folks, just a quick question... does anyone know why my intercooler pipe that goes on to charge pipe keep coming off?! no matter how tight i do the jubilee clip, the rubber hose always seems to slip off the charge pipe!! im now carrying a flat headed screq driver in my car as its happening quite allot now!

any ideas what to do to stop this??

cheers, Pete

which end? short pipe near turbo or the longer pipe near the offside headlight ( i presume this one)

Do you have the stock charge pipe? do you have the stock pipework?

when you re-attach it do you clean the surfaces? is the end of the charge pipe flat or does it have a rounded raised end to held hold pipe on? (cant think that thats called).

Is the circlip definately the right side? (ive seen many fitted and done up tight but its been due to it being the wrong size) It might even be worn and slipping loose.

I know many who fitted aftermarket charge pipes had this issue, many fitting TWO jubilee clips.

yes its the side near the drivers headlight, goes from side intercooler up to charge pipe.
No i dont usually clean it? i just put the pipe back on tighten the jubilee clip up. Yes its the standard charge pipe (just polished up) so it does have the lip round the bottom.
im sure i heard about someone spraying hairspray on the charge pipe to make the pipe 'stick' more...

You need to clean the charge pipe and inside the hose with carb cleaner. Then spray the charge pipe on the end with hairspray. If it comes off then you need a new hose.

i really think you are on a loser if you dont clean the surfaces! and clean BOTH surfaces properly as the inside of intercooler pipes get pretty oiled up at times so you will have transfered this to both surfaces.

I would invest some time in cleaning both surfaces, allowing to dry properly and getting a decent jubilee or clamp.. The clips dont take kindly to repeated tightening.

Use sandpaper to give the hose something to grip to, or get a bead welded on the pipe.
Also what was the problem with the car not starting, sorry if i missed the conclusion.

Mine did that as well!

I cleaned off the oil off the charge pipe end and inside the hose that fits over the end of the charge pipe. Then used 2 high pressure jubilee clips and she has never come off since!

Oil inside hose where it slides over connection to charge pipe. Mine did this and wiped inside of hose and it's fine now.

awrite lee, it was the fuel pump relay that was causing the problem! stupid thing!!! had to wait 5days and spend £72 to get one from seat!! (thats an expensive fuse!!!)

As for the charge pipe, il try cleaning the oil off pipe and hose, and slip bck on, maybe using 2 jubilee clips. il try giving the pipe a quick sand with some paper, see if that helps.

cheers
