Why do we have to wait sooooo long!?!?

Hi Guys,

I am getting very frustrated at how long it is taking for my factory build. I could understand if it was because it was an FR but i'm only waiting for the 2.0 TDi Reference Sport. I have been waiting 10 weeks now is anyone else having the same problem?

Has anyone else got the Reference Sport? If so what do you all think?

Cheers,

Neil

I have been having exactly the same problem..
I'm waiting on a 1.9 TDI Stylance. I believe the reason I'm waiting so long is because I specced an Electric Sunroof.
Well I've finally had word its arriving on Tuesday morning. It will have been 17 weeks....
I can only guess its because of all the Siesta's.

we only waited 6 weeks for the Beeza, when quoted a 12 week build :)

i thimk it was because we were in and out of the dealer for so long trying to decide what we actually wanted, the sales exec ordered what we kept leaning towards anyway
if we'd changed our minds at the last minute, they'd have another demo to use :)

win all round for us!!!

Have a look at past threads about lead time on the Focus ST. Mr C, and Grey had to wait months for theirs :-o

On the flip side of that...
Would you rather yours was built but standing in a holding area by southampton docks, 2 foot under water for weeks on end.
At least you know it would have been built recently. Plus anticipation will make the acutual day better!

Yeah I know that and I'm not really complaining! I'm just impatient!!:D

I think one of the problems I have had is that the factory changed from 2006 to 2007 specs in this time and mine is now being made to the 2007 spec!

I had to wait 10 weeks for mine to arrive. I was impatient at the beginning but I managed to put it to the back of my mind :)

I did think about just ordering a standard one but decided I'd rather wait for exactly what I wanted than get it quick and wish I had waited for the extras.

Exactly.........

that's why we had a factory build :)

My Mum had a "stock" car years ago, and it was nothing but problems. Since then, we spec the car so it won't be a stock item, but has to be a factory build due to colours Vs. options

On the flipside of a long and painful wait for a new vehicle, it often means better resale values come selling time.
Ford, Vauxhall, Peugeot etc all seem to have masses of discounted new stock nearly all the time and their resale values are normally quite poor after a few years (with the obvious exceptions of certain 'in demand' models).
SEAT being VAG owned benefit from the typical German trick of slight under supply thus keeping demand relatively high for a given model. Well in theory anyway!

Well, I went with a 'fairly' stock car ... Leon FR 2.0 TDi in black, with 18" alloys and bluetooth.
Didn't get the best deal on price, but had a manky corolla t-sport to get rid of - fast!

To be honest, bluetooth was the only must-have for me, xenon's would have been lovely - but too expensive for me.

So I went with one of those cars sitting in 2 feet of water at the docks :)blink:), but the free 18"alloys were a nice bonus ... and I'm picking it up tomorrow after a 10day wait :funk:

Us like wise, we wanted Zenith grey + 18" alloys on an FR TDI. Our chosen dealer (offered the best trade in on my A4 and discount on the FR) managed to get another dealer to relinquish an ordered car. The spec we finally got also included Bluetooth (bonus :D ). Ordered last weekend, we're picking it up next Saturday :)

I don't think 12 weeks is unreasonable for a factory build. Couyld be worse, I had to wait 7 months for my MK5 R32

I feel very lucky with mine, i went in on the monday with my clio which only had one days tax left, in 5 hours time with a 2006 2.0 TDI in red. it had just been washed and was a demonstrator so i got a good deal on a well spec`d car

you asked if anyone else got the Reference Sport? If so what do you all think?

well i cant get out of mine, i love it, fast, sounds good and comfy to drive.

Just desperate to get the ironing board radio out and fit some kind of new radio, seen the pictures of the Sat Nav layout so a new bigger facia is out there i just hope its not to long until a 3rd party makes them, Justkenwood were listing them but in the end it was for a left hand drive so there removed them, gutted

ps hello forum going to post some pictures asap.
