Hi i have seat leon tdi 110 se and the car itself is great its just been serviced new filters etc and a good dollop of ecotek powerboost, its never ran better.. but 90% of every morning start or when i start the car after an 8 hour shift it bellows white smoke for about 2_3 seconds..can anyone shed any light on this please...? Here are a few things ive been told it could be... fuel filter (already changed), unburnt diesel in chambers, timing pulley of some sort, if anyone has any more suggestions or remedies they will be greatly appreciated Thanks kee

i dont think it is m8 its definitley smoke, nearly choked woman to death the other day it was quite embarrasing really.. thanks for a reply

the car starts brilliantly and no smoke when its below 2degrees as the coil light stays on longer.. is there anyway of making it stay on longer above that degree?

white smoke usualy means to much air mate! Are u shewer its white not gray coz if its gray it could just be a carbon build up in the exhaust that u blow out when staring the engine after and 8 hour rest. Personaly i dont think its a problem mate if the car runs fine.

White smoke is water vapour, your own personal cloud. Cold exhaust systems will condense any steam in the exhaust, and as you are running rich on startup with a cold engine, the catalyst will be turning unburned fuel to steam and CO2.

It should smell slightly of soot, as the rich mixture will also mean some fuel gets part-burned to soot particles rather than fully burned to CO2. The catalyst can't deal with soot, which is solid particles and not a gas.

ye once started the car is faultless it runs great... i think i might be worrying over nothing.. Thanks all
