I’ve had my pd130 chipped for 6 months now and recently a whistling noise has started. I first heard it when accelerating hard around 100mph and just thought it must be the wind. But now I can hear it when accelerating hard around 70mph. The revs have to be above 2500rpm and foot near the floor to hear it. I have searched the forum and someone mentioned the dual mass flywheel? Has anyone had this problem before?

I have a kind of whistling sound. I can hear it when it's idleing and sounds like its coming form the belts, then sometimes when turbo is boosting I can hear a high pitched sound but not sure if that's just the turbo or the belts again but going faster. I brought it up when I took it to dealers a few months ago but they said they couldn't hear it at first and then said its just normal.

Mine does it on near full throttle in 4th 5th and 6th gears. If the car gets a good rag then you can hear it in 2nd and 3rd . Has to be above 2500rpm as well. I have seen a lot of people say it could be the EGR. I’m just worried it could be the turbo on its way out. I’ve not had time to have a good look to check the turbo shaft and boost pipes yet.

mine whistles wen idle after remapp no problems do been doing this for 12300 miles

Still not sorted out the problem yet. I have had the alternator belt squeaking as well so they could be linked. Think I will take it to the garage and ask them to leak check the boost hoses and check the turbo first.

Got this problem solved as well!!!!!!!!! it was the top boost pipe connection leaking (the one that connects to the egr valve) I just put a clamp round it to stop it from moving.

I had the faint whistle for about a week or so, then it got really nasty, struggled to make it to 30mph. Turbo bearings were shot and which caused movement on the impeller = bye bye turbo.
dealer quoted 1782 quid to replace the turbo so i'm looking at recon'd units instead...

^^^ nah...mine started doing that about a month/2 before the turbo **** itself...

Everythings fixed on my car now and theres barely any noise at all

Unless it's a very noticeable noise I wouldn't worry. (As in, you'll heard it clearly with the stereo turned up).
I had the obvious problem with the 3 exhaust manifold bolts getting loose, and it would whistle like hell and eventually the gap would widen enough for it to start bellowing like a shot bull :p
Took a while, and lots of loctite and 3 new self fastening bolts to finally sort out the problem.
Spending 30min every morning to before work to tighten up bolts is taking the piss :p

Mine need tightening again...really can't be bothered with the hassle tho so haven't got round to doing it for the last couple of weeks. I know it will start blowing soon tho :(
