Blower motor making noises

I've noticed my blower motor making some feint noises recently - from a cold start in the morning and when accelerating or turning.
If I turn the blower off there is no noise, when on and when I accelerate or turn I can hear feint rubbing/graunching noise.

Obviously the blower motor bearings are getting tired (10 years old and 140,000miles) - just wondering anyone else experienced this and had any success squirting some lube in their? or is it new blower motor time?

Think i'll try a squirt of some PTFE lube - as its only three screws & free and a new motor is not cheap!

I would just replace it. Once you gain access its probably only a couple of screws to get it out. On my CLS55 I replaced the blower and was greeted with this major difference  But that was a 2005 car, so even older.

Really easy job on the Leon so I think i'll inspect first.
New blower motors seem quite expensive! Probably seasonal pricing, like heater matrix's - cheaper to buy them in the spring/summer.

The OE part (made by Valeo) 5Q2819021C is listed at £279 - and that's without the 'fan control' 5Q0907521E which is £217! (which I don't think I need)
The Valeo equivalent = 715298 which does seem to be available for more like £100 - and does look like the OE part from a picture.
I will take it out first and have a look - certainly not urgently required.

I had a similar issue on my mk1, turned out some of the insulation had come loose and would rub on the side of blower.

There's loads of 3rd party options, usually around 35 quid. Blower and resistor together.

Usually you would avoid the super cheap ones, but it's a 5 minute job to swap, if it only makes another 50,000 miles - who cares, slap another one in there!

I have a rattling/high pitched sound when accelerating when my aircon is on, would this be the same issues?

turn your fan off - does the noise stop?
turn your fan on - does the noise start when accelerating or turning?
Mine does. Not related to the air con - just the fan motor.

I know what can happen is that if debris falls down when replacing the Pollen filter it can cause the fan to make a noise, that's why Seat recommend putting a suitable size plate under the filter before removal.

That could happen but then you would probably get an out of balance vibration/noise.
My parents C4 Picasso had a couple of instances where the blower motor had this vibration/ out of balance noise - and each time on inspection it was a leaf! On the third time - and more thorough investigation I found a whole pile of leaves under the scuttle from an old mouse nest! literally a shopping bag full! He had been busy! There was no filter from the scuttle to the motor - the filter was after the motor - really dumb design!

Mine sounds like tired/dry bearings squeaking like a little bird is in there!

Yeah when I accelerate (only when the fan is on) it has this high pitched sorta squeak/bearing noise. I wanna get it fixed because the rattling is driving me mad. Did you fix yours?
