I've been keeping an eye on Ebay for one, as mine is heavily out of date (it was from a 2001 model!). If you want to spend the money, SEAT do them on their website, but if I remember rightly the disc costs more than most standalone sat nav units!

You should find the head unit manufacturer also sells model specific ones, they're roughly the same price. £99 rings a bell?

Hi there

I have just part ex'd my toledo v5 170 (2003 model with dynamic nav) and am currently using a Blaupunkt Tele Atlas (2006/7 maps).

I'm in a dilema actually as I would ordinarily sell this on to recover some cash, seeing as the car is going to auction. However the dealer was very generous with the PX value so am not sure if this is the right thing to do.

I didn't realise that these things were sought after though. Out of interest, if you have a dynamic nav unit, how much would one of these discs be worth ??

Cheers

D

Hartigan, these discs are a bit peculiar. If you look at their new price (£99) and use that as a reference, I don't see why you couldn't get £50 for it. It's not on show so it doesn't have to be mint condition, it just needs to work.

The problem is that £50 will get you a touch screen unit with better functionality and probably newer maps, so the buyer would have to be pretty keen on the OEM look to go for the updated disc. I have a budget of about £20 max to get the disc updated, which almost puts me into 'dodgy copy' territory.

Yeah I realise that and if I were buying from a dealership (like I did) I would expect one.

In my case the chap that owned the car before kept the CD, hence the dealer buying me the 2006/7 maps for a 2003 car.

I'm not a total barsteward and if I were selling the car on privately then I'd pass the cd on without fail. However the car is going to an auction to be sold for peanuts and the trader will more than likely whip the disc out anyway (either for himself or to put on ebay).

In a roundabout way I was thinking of helping out one of the folks here and also to recover some deperately needed cash. If this is out of order though then I'll just pass it on with the car. Thanks for the feedback :)

Cheers man.

For the sake of £20 it probably aint worth it but I'm now laughing at this whole discussion.

Melonlad is making me feel a tad guilty for asking an imoral question ;) and then you're talking about buying a 'dodgy copy' :D

In truth I tried every dodgy CD copying software available to make a *backup* of my CD but wasn't able. Shame really as I'd have been an ebay power seller by now ;)

This might not help at all, but I know the unit in the Toledo doesn't do 'DX' type discs. I did manage to obtain a copy of an 'EX' disc, which was recognised, but it turned out to be Benelux so it didn't actually work.

I'd be 80% sure that an EX disc will work.

Alcohol120 will apparently do it, it uses one of the inbuilt security measures. Securedisc I think?

Not that I'm promoting piracy of course...
