Before anyone shouts on here I've done a search in the mk4 area and found nothing about car alarm recomendations!!!

I have a 56 1.9tdi sport and want to fit a decent alarm b4 I start to mod it, are the ones provided by Seat any good was thinking of fitting the Scorpion 1315 CAT1 System - Thatcham, as its booked in for a service so i'll get them to do it then.

It's online price on seat.co.uk is £208.50 Don't know how much fitting is but looking to spend about £300ish

Or are there better after market systems out there?

I want to be able to program the alarm to the car key so no bulky key fob, be volumetric etc.. possible total closure system. But no AutoStart as its a TDi and i've been warned it will knacker the engine.

Any suggestions would be greatfull recieved

nothing "wrong"with the factory fitted ones.at the end of the day if someone is that determined to knick your car, they will just kick your door in and ask you nicely for the keys.
no disrespect but 1.9 tdi sport aren't exactly top of the list for car thieves.

yer mate probably not worth the money of the alarm, I was thinking about getting one as my 1.2 doesnt have one and it would nock some off my insurance and maby compensate for my mods some.

No i realise its not top of most peoples want list but i want to sleep easier at night as i dont live in the safest area and i work at a high school so an alarm going off should attract attention if the little buggers try to do anything to it!

I also realise if they want the car they will get it, when our house got broken into the copper said the best thing to do is get good insurance, if they want something then they'll get in no matter what.:censored:

most insurers don't care about alarms.as long as they have a cat2 immobiliser, your insurer is usually happy enough.

All alarms fitted on mk4s are Cat1 approved anyway, so at the end of the day it wouldnt make any diffrence. On the lower spec ibizas they just fit Cat2 approved immobs. Cat1s only really reduce your insurance if the car value is over £20k anyway, other than that a Cat2 is fine.
