Hey guys!
i just bought myself a brand new Seat Ibiza 2015, 1.2TSI, 5 doors AM5.

With this amazing car i got 1 "fancy" key (3 button) and 1 simple analog key. the price of an additional new key here is 301£, which is way too much.

i was wondering what other ways are there to get a new key?
can i go abroad to somewhere like UK or Germany with my key and have it duplicated in VW or Seat dealership? can i order a dummy key for a cheap price and code it myself? can i send information abroad and have a coded key sent to me?

any information regarding this process and how to lower its costs will be helpful, i tried looking for "key" in the search but i couldn't seem to find anything related so i assume this is general knowledge.

Thank you!

Not really. Just buy remote on ebay, cut the blade with local locksmith. Than you will need someone who can code it. Some of the people just duplicate the keys, some others just adding them as a second key.
But not with vcds

you cant code them yourself the VAG group put a stop to this early on

you will probably find its a dealer only now!

agreed - have watched this done at the stealers

1. plug car in to diagnostic machine
2. put a programmed key in to the ignition
3. diagnostic machine contacts vw database over internet and confirms key & ecu codes match
4. diagnostic machine tells operator to remove first key and insert new key
5. vw database is updated with new key ID and ecu is told to accept new key.
6. unplug diagnostic machine and give car & keys back to owner

Only takes about 10 mins in total but they ream you for it.

It was the same on my 2002 Audi A4 unless you could get hold of the skc code then you could do it via VCDS

so they had this sussed early on although on earlier models there was ways to do it

One thing to understand, there are a lot of "new" push button VAG keys for sale that are just used or spare keys that have been fitted with a new blank lock blade. It has been said, and I don't know if this is true or not, that the transponder in the key fob can only be coded once - so a used key can not be recoded to your car. So, if that is true, how do VAG recode your original key when adding an extra key? When VAG add a new key, you must take all your keys for that car to the dealer, they then, I think, delete all the keys and then recode and add them all back in. I have this job to do for my Audi as the emergency key was not supplied with the car.

If what I've written about buying "used" keys is correct, it is easy to buy a new transponder and replace the one in the "used" key.

it is true that they can only be coded once this is the transponder for the immobiliser

the central locking should be able to be coded providing its the same frequency

when you get keys coded you need all the ones you have because they delete old ones that aren't in use and the only way to check which ones work is by having the key with the car

they are put in to order too so if you have 3 keys coded they are in 1 2 3 when you look in VCDS instead of say 2 3 4 if you say lost key 1 and had a 4th re coded

any key blank can by cut for the doors and ignition its the immobiliser that is the problem
