when first start car for the day i get a air'y / grindy noise

Had a search but cant find any thing.

Right when i first start my car for the day i get a air'y / grindy noise , switch off start again and its gone.. What isit?

does it sound like a hoover in the engine bay ?
all i can think of is your secondary air system but should only run for a few mins and would turn its self off

I Have this same problem in my Leon

It Sounds like a hoover, then it will turn off after like 30 secs, and wont do it again

Thats the secondary air intake, to warm the cat I believe as been said before for the US market, many people remove it. It's not needed in this country.

Either that or just ignore it, and pretend your driving a dyson.

Chris hit it striaght on the head there, I fought **** it poped the bonet and there were hoese flying every where!!

I dont know much about the engines tbh one was disconnected form my sir filter which goes in the a like nother filter in the my engine

Yep the sh*tty pipes always came off in my bay, especially the ones connectig to thr air filter and where the sai valve is. Just rip the flipping thing out.
