im really sorry to post this up as im sure its been talked about 100 times but i cant find it using the search so....

im just about to buy some 20mm spacers for the bk of my car, they are £30ex vat but they do come with the longer bolts. i know a few ppl put them on to look good but im more interested on the performance advantages, how much does this help?

since putting mk3 wheels on my car its bn all over the place and i have to sort it out, iv got hold of the geomatry set up for the car as i know mine is wrong at min abd iv got ball joints on order as mine r done wiv

can any1 tell me if any/all of this will bring my car bk to its great handdling.

cheers

If you put the spacers on it'll widen the track which in turn should make it more stable at the back.

umm still havnt got any decent pics of car but will do soon and ill post them up asap. like i said b4 it may not be the wheels it may just be a combernation of things.

this is where i got bit geeky and i hope my math worked out rite..... i had 205 width 17s one in pic now im down to 195 but there is a 40mm diff between bk and front of ibiza so that 20mm loss in total is another 50% loss in width on bk end!!!!

i've got 20mm spacers on my cordy. and its mad a hell of a difference. just seams to turn in better and makes the back end feel like it wants to follow the rest of the car. rather than wonder off in to the hedge

mk3 wheels wont change how the car will handle at all?
same sized tyres and width as the 16v ronal multispokes on the mk2 and the same offset (ET38)

If the ball joints are knackered and the wheel geometry is out, it's no wonder your handling is a bit dodgy!

You'll want to fit the ball joints before you get the wheels aligned (you probably already know that anyway....).

if you want 20mm spacers i would go for the hub centric spacers that bolt to the hub first and then your wheel bolts to the spacer. a bit safer then using really long bolts.

I'd recommend spacers as well. They will stop the car from lift of oversteering. I mean lift off oversteer is fun when your expecting it, but heart stopping when you are not.
