Wheel spacer

Hi all, sorry to dig up an old thread. If I went with 10mm/15mm spacers can I stick with my original bolts and locking bolts? reason being to keep the original lockers really. If not what is the max I could get spacer wise with standard bolts?

Hi mark,

I was told that 5mm is possible with standard bolts but any more and it's new bolts all round.

Standard bolts are around 25mm thread length so if you have 10mm spacers you will need 35mm bolts.

You can buy new lockers with a longer thread.

I believe that 5 full thread turns is what Is recommended for your wheel bolts.

There are varying bolt types I.e. Radius bolts that normally come on standard wheels and tapered bolts that are more common on aftermarket wheels.

If possible buy hub centric spacers which come with the correct diameter lip for your wheel to sit on, I think 57.1mm is the correct diameter for this lip.

I've not sorted mine yet as I'm trying to work out if I can buy one set of locking nuts to cover both the 15mm and 10mm spacer.

Also so far I've found that 11mm and up offer hub centric so you may need to go 15mm & 11mm.

Cheers

No matter what size spacer you go with, you should always go for the correct length longer bolts. The standard bolts are that length for a reason.

Cheers fellas ^ Lee Im thinking along the same lines as you with 15mm on rear but maybe might leave the fronts alone for now. I read on here somewhere that 35mm lockers will just be enough for the 15mm rears. Just be a shame to have to buy 2 different sets of locking bolts :-(
If I end up buying the 11mm for fronts at least I could try the 45mm lockers on them before hand to see if they will clear everything. If not ill just have to buy a set of 35mm lockers.

If you're using different sizes on the front and rear get a size of longer that will match the wider rear spacers and then just cut two down to match the size for the thinner front spacers.
