My bearings have gone in both front wheels. Its only done 54,000 miles - - is this normal?
Also. does the oil light indicate it needs more oil, or oil change. cheers
It indicates that you REALLY need more oil. You shouldn't let your car get to the state where it's telling you to top up. By the time the oil pressure has dropped enough to give this warning, you could have already done some damage.
Best not drive it too hard until it's topped up, and make sure it's done ASAP
there is also a load of smoke and crap coming out of the exhaust when I start it up after its been sitting for more than a few hours. Someone who doesn't really know much about engines rekons it might be leaking oil into the pistons or something!
Going back to the original post, I've got a LCR 225 04 and had my bearing and lower ball joints, passenger side, done in May on warranty. The driver side is now humming and need that done. Its only done 17.5K. Bearings are a more common problem on the 225 so i've been told
mine failed MOT due to "exessevie play".ie too much movement when inspected.
whining/grinding noise is what the driver will hear, especially when load is applied to that side of the car(when cornering).had a play with my near side today, seems fine, replaced anti rll bar link and my probs were solved.(fitting guide to follow)
I've been hearing a grinding noise from the car recently - sounds a bit like when you drive over the rumble-strips at the edge of the motorway (except without the vibration).
Took it into a local garage (not seat) and they couldn't decide whether it was the wheel bearings or the drive-shaft! Said to wait until it gets worse then bring it back...
