Whats the difference between g12 and g13?

As the title says whats the difference between the 2 coolants

im sure someone will say for sure.
but I believe g12 is pink.
g13 purple/violet

G12 came first..
then g12+ 2003- 2008 on VWs I think
then g12++
then came g13 which appears to be g12++ but manufactured in a more environmentally friendly way.


its basically the newer improved versions over time.
from what i can see its not a bad idea to update from g12 to g12+ or G12++, - silicants not being in g12?

Your car will have had G12 originally, and I understand it is perfectly fine to use g12+ or g13 on G12 spec'd cars.


G11 (blue is NOT compatible).

Thanks for the reply only reason i ask is i bought psi ultimate timing belt kit and it should come with g12 but it came with g13 and its pink ive already put it in the car but thought ide ask to make sure alls well

As above, its just newer. It's compatible and can be mixed so no need to worry
