Ok, keeping it short.. It looks like Im going to come into a considerable amount of money as its being left to me in a will.

So do I keep the Leon - go big turbo and make it super quick- and get something smart as well like a Audi A4 TDi to runabout in, or do I flog the Leon, forget about the TDi and get my dream car which is an Audi RS4 or perhaps an M5 or the like.

Just after some opinions - its a real life situation so no silly comments please!!

Look at the running costs of all situations.

If i could afford to run and own an RS4 id do it in a heart beat

Invest it in property to rent out and use the money you get from that to fund your life, pay the monthly payments on a new car, or pay for your own housing. Buying a car would be a stupid idea if the sum of money is at M5 levels of cash as you know you'll not get anything like that value back after you drive it off the forcourt. Property though will, at the very least, be worth the same value in a few years time but the rent money you could get will be very nice!

I dont beleive in investing, the way I see it is... I was planning to live my life without this cash so having it is a nice suprise. Plus I could drop dead tomorrow and not see the benefits.
I do plan to put some (approx 25-30k) into our next house (the wife threatened me with divorce if I didnt!) but the rest is for me to spend as I wish.
Perhaps an RS4 although well affordable is a bit unrealistic. Maybe Ill make the Leon a rocket and get a sensible diesel!

Lucky man.... ;)

But RobM does have a point, but i know where your comming from (except i didn't get a windfall) it would be a very difficult decision, what to do for the best, with a load of money.... in that situation I'd probably pay off my mortgage, and move away from my a***hole chavvy neighbour... or have a contract put out on him.... :cartman:

If you like your Leon why not keep it, if it's in decent condition etc, etc... do it up a bit, probably best to put a little by for a rainy day, they can turn up when you least expect it..... trust me...

Still i'm sure what ever you decide you'll be more than happy with... :cloud9:

I wouldn't waste your money, although you've got some to stick in the house, playing carefully will give you some spare cash to keep playing with.

Although bunging a BT on the Leon will be fun, I doubt you'll get any of the money back, you might even end up with a car that'll be hard to sell.

I'm not a two car man, doesn't seem much point, you might as well run about the the one that's most fun :D RS4 sounds good, but the B5s seem to eat money, especially around service time (check brake prices and how often you have to change the drive belts). Dunno how much you've come into, so not sure if you'd stratch to a B7 RS4.

Think about a B6 S4? V8 and understated, beat the M3 round to top gear track, and still some room for putting big brakes and other mods on :D

Or buy a second hand Ferrari F355 get a nice one for less than 40K, trouble is the running costs would be crippling....

I've always wanted one, thats were my dosh would go, even if i could only manage it for a year,:drool:

Benefits; it probably wouldn't loose too much value, unlike a most cars...

I'd invest it. But then, I want a property portfolio and want to be able to retire early :)
