I was recommended the Uniroyal Rainsport2 by Apex (local company), but they're doing the Yokohama AVS db V550 for the same price, special offer at £20 off a tyre. As they worked out cheaper than the Rainsport and same price as the Falken 452s I've already got on the front, I bought 4. Get the rears fitted Monday.
The 452s have been great for the money, the perfect value for money tyre. It's great that we can debate right here about the merits of one tyre over another, but since there are so many non-control factors, none more so than us drivers, ignore everything I say and everyone else about the black circles. Well, OK, maybe under advisement, with a pinch of salt, maybe a slice of lemon. Hark at me, I've gone off at a tangent, through the hedge and narrowly missed a cow!

. Ive got avon zz3 on the back at the min since i bought the car, good tyres but i couldnt say there any better/worse than 452's. I know tyres are important but if you have to really think about price like me, its obvious the latter of the two will get the vote 
i'm also looking for a new pair of tires, got a pair of hankook v12 evo's in the front which are on there way out, cant realy give a a review because i havnt had them for long as they came with the car when i bought it. However i found this website which gives a general indication/review on how some of the tires behave in certains situations wet/dry etc.... might be a good indicator to help you??? http://www.tiresandco.ca/summer-tire.html.
Also has any one heard of Event WL902, I know there a budget tire. They came with my car still has the little rubber bits on the sides, was thinking to put these up front and the brand new ones on the back??? That way can get these tires out the way faster for some premiums??

For a budget they are not bad, hard compound so they last ages but sacrifice a little on grip, it's a perfect tyre if you do alot of motorway miles.
yep, hasn't said the Falkens were bad, I think the same as you, Falkens are good average or a small bit better. just like the Toyo Proxes or the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's
the only thing I wouldn't recommend though is buying budget tyres for a 200bhp car....
still, you have only 4 palm of surface where your car is connected to the ground.

I think the mixed review for the Falkens may be down to temperature / area of the country factors.
I had a set on my LCR and took them off as they were dire, terrible grip / breaking response in the wet but I do live in Aberdeen so it's cold and wet. To give a comparison the Yoko W Drive's I have on now are better than the Falkens and they are a winter biased tyre but then it is still less than 7 deg up here most days.
At the end of the day you get what you pay for, if you want a quality tyre it costs if you want a budget that gets you through the MOT you pay less.
Personally I don't see the value in spending £££££ on a decent car then crippling it with bottom end tyres though... each to their own

Just fitted a pair of Yokohama AVS db V550 to the rear. I've only driven the car 25 miles since but already noticing they are much quieter than the Dunlops they replaced. What has taken me by surprise is turn-in which is much more responsive, and stability in the wet is good too but of course I'm being rather cautious at the moment. There's 2 in the garage waiting to go on the front once the FK452s on the front have worn down, that'll be really interesting, and only a few thousand miles to wait.
i'm now looking to change my fronts as they're 'getting there' wear wise. currently running dunlop sp sport maxx (car supplied with those) but i might go for michelin pilot sport 3's on the front, backs are fine so they'll get left for now.
one question, what is the difference between 'zr' and 'r'? my current tyres are zr18 but the ones i might go for are just r18, what's the difference?

Not sure if you've bought your new tyres yet, but thought I'd chip in, you never know it might help! I was looking for ages then came across Costco fitting Michelin Pilot Sport 3's for 118 all in. Got 4 new corners today, like driving a new car. Couldn't be happier, and at a price similar to Lesser tyres elsewhere I think.
Had Falken 452's on the front of my LC for what must be around 15k, they have lasted well. I must admit they haven't gave me the same amount of confidence on the twisty A roads as my old Goodyear Eagle F1's (gsd3's) For the price their a decent tyre but I think I'll try something else when the time comes. Should add I only got around 8k out the Goodyear F1's.

i had a pair of 452's on the leon last summer ok grip in the dry arm weather as soon as the tempeature dropped and the roads got a little slick the trction control went nuts even pulling out of junctions at normal revs,I just switched them onto the back and put a pair of rainsport 2's on it and the difference is another world the wet grip is fantastic the dry great out of this world.
spend extra tbh with the falkens i always found myself doubting if it would grip going around roundabouts or anything resembling a corner.
Now the car has a completely different feel like i can tell it's planted to the road traction control has not spun up once since i had these fitted btw

I tried Kumho's and thought they were crap. I've had Toyo T1R's but now i've got Pirelli P-Zero's on and the Toyo's seem crap. I've never had a better tyre. I'll be going Pirelli P-Zero's from now on.
Wet grip is unbelievable too. It use to spin in 2nd low down, now it just grips and goes. I know what you mean with traction control it used to cut the power so much but it hardly cuts in now, just on an incline in 1st really but still grips so much better!

Quick question for all you tyre experts, are there any brands that are noticeably quieter than others - or are they all pretty much the same due to the low (45) profile? Mine's a standard LC on starfishes and will soon need new shoes. Obviously grip is number one priority but I wouldn't mind a little less road noise if that's possible, otherwise I'll go with the general concensus if there is one.

Has anyone tried hankook RS2's my mate runs them on a 700hp Evo and I had them on a 260hp yaris they were awesome on both cars similar thing to a R888 but with loads more tread and strangely they last well camskill sell them
Might have to give em a go, it's worth trying until you find a tyre that suits the car and your driving style.
It's to do with the suspension too, But yeah mainly the tyres. I thought standard profile was 40 as mine were and are on 205/40/17? Thats on the MK4 Ibiza Cupra 20VT though. I don't mind road noise, i often drive without music on as i like to hear the car and all it's various instruments, thats music to my ears

i ave gdyear f1 asymmetric on mine cant rele fault them for the price they give gd levels of grip and loads of confidence in the wet. i paid £126 fitted per wheel for elite direct.
