Hasnt the 2.0l 16v gti (ABF engine) the same engine as the Golf GTI??
not in the mk2 golf no. the mk2 has a 1.8 kr engine. only makes 136 bhp and not that much torque
like gingawar says, the ABF is in the Mk3 Golf

yeah, i doubt i would beat anything with an abf engine in it!! my mate had a mk2 golf with a 170 bhp abf engine in it, talk about rapid!! my lasting memory was the look on some chaves face as his shiney new clio 187 got wasted by an h reg golf!! 130 mph in 4th gear!! sounded like a touring car. here listen;

Its been my experience that most VAG engines put out more than book

i have it on very good authority from more than a few vw nuts/mechanics/dealer employees that none of the 8v agg/2e engines left the factory with less than 120 bhp! and 145 lb/ft of torque. my old 8v golf mk2 only had an exhaust/ecu chip/power rohr and bmc carbon induction kit to make 129.9 bhp at the fly with 148 lb/ft torque

mine must be running a bit more than the 115 bhp quoted now! i can rip a mk2 golf 16v (136bhp) to bits with it! video is available for proof! it also feels faster than my old mk2 golf 8v and that dyno'd at 129.9 at the fly with 148 lb/ft torque! mine has a pipercross air filter, modded throttle body, 100 cell miltek cat, magnex 2.25" s/s exhaust and 30kg of sound deadening removed! and a datron timed 7.46 seconds to 60 mph!![[B)]](/forums/styles/seatcupra/oldforumsmileys/shades.gif "Cool [B)]")
