Wax

On the subject of cleaning our cherished cars, a very important part of cleaning a car is applying a decent protective layer of wax after washing. This ensures the paint work stays protected from harmful UV rays and other contaminants. Although less noticable with light colour cars, it helps hide unwanted swirl marks too, espescially black and ada blue.

I use Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0 bottle liquid wax. Costs £19 per bottle, lasts at least a year even though i wax my car most times i clean it (during summer once a week) so quite good value for money. Easy to apply and remove i can wax my whole car in under 20 minutes.

What do you use and do you recommend it?

I use supernatural wax, its reallyn ice stuf and easy to put on. Although the full tub costs a fair bit!

I've tried the tech wax, gave it two coats last time i washed the car, and ye, it was very easy to use, although i was somewhat disappointed with the finish. It was only as good looking as that which I was getting the Turtle Wax's extra platinum sealant.

That said, it was "free" (it came in the mequiars clay bar kit i brought) and the car is still beading water nicely despite not being washed properly for 3 weeks and then being washed at the dealers yesterday (i forgot to ask them to just hoover inside though on first inspection bar nasty water marks the paintwork looks ok).

I've recently got a tub of collinite 476, so just waiting for a break in the rain before giving tht a bash, but i've heard good things about it

Not used it yet but Autoglym HD Wax comes highly reccomended. My dad has been in the motor trade all his life and swears by autoglym, plus a few friends i have use the HD wax. Not cheap at £40 a tub from halfords and main places but ive just ordered some off ebay for £25 delivered which i think is quite reasonable.

collinite 915 for me, gives protection for months, great value!
Not much of it left though so looking into r222 or supernatural, thinking supernatural will win though :)
