Wax/Sealant

Guys apologies if its been covered or not but anyways,

I have just had the rear arches resprayed after some bubbles were appearing. Thankfully it was done under warranty. Also had the door pillars re-done because the rubber strip along the door is wearing away the paint every time the door is opening/closing.

Whats the difference between wax and sealant? I want to treat the areas so that this doesnt happen again. Creating another layer of paint if it were...

So would i get some wax or sealant, and any suggestions? I have a candy white ibiza.

Sealants are synthetic and wax (excluding hybrids) are natural in their ingredients.

Sealants generally give a longer durability over waxes unless you spend an absolute fortune on the wax and sealants generally give a more sterile, sharp, reflective look to the paint where waxes usually are warmer and glossier.

For what you want, where the paint is being worn by rubbers i would go for a sealant. Something that creates a "skin" on the paint would be best so something like G-Techniq C1 or Concours Car Car Ceramishield as examples.

You can use these products on the whole car to good effect, whites usually look really nice under sealants but you really need to spend time and effort in getting the paint right before using these as they wont hide anything.

I ordered some collinite double coat stuff. Has good reviews and lasts 12 months seemeingly.
I will invest in a sealant also i think but unfortunately I cant really afford the £40-50 stuff lol.
Thanks for clearing that up though, i have gotten a bit OCD since joining this forum!!

Collinite is good wax for the money but it wont create a barrier on the paint that will prevent the rubbing issue you have.

Maybe a strip of vinyl there might be a better idea.

A strip of that clear vinyl is a good call. Nice one.
