water intake

driving home from work today, I got stuck in tqrential rain and went through some pretty serious puddles.

the car started to spluter badly and felt like it was going to die on me. eventually it smoothed out a bit but whenever I give it some throttle, it cuts the power as soon as it hits full boost and goes lumpy.

I've got a dynatwist, but the air feed is in the wing not hanging down so I'm not sure how water would have got in!

Have I got a big problem here, or will it sort itself out???

is your air filter wet?dont think any problem will sort its self out fair enough if the car spluttered due to water then pulled itself through it but as yours is still faulty id get it checked out mate

good thinking, i'll check the filter element tommorow. I'm kinda hoping it'll dry overnight though!!

Sorry mate if the car misses when you boot it then your maf is goosed, check the oil cap for milky oil, if it's milky you may have bent conrods. I bent two of my rods this way with the standard intake on.

it actaully seemed okay this morning. I didn't boot it for about half hour, got on the A3 and nailed and it seemed fine. So i'm hoping the electrics got wet and dryed overnigght or something.

Hope my mafs alright, its only young!! I'll check the oil too.

wot would be the point of checking it the next day when its dryed they told you to check it to see if it was wet, if you let it dry you would never know if you sucked up water

i think cordobybrendy had this issue , but the water was actually in around his lambda probe connection box,

well i didn't fancy going outside to do it at gone midnight! It was just the electrics anyway in the end
