Wastegate for an Ibiza FR 1.9TDI 130PD?

Hi all.

I was wondering if its possible and/or worthwhile putting a wastegate onto my Ibiza FR 1.9TDI PD130? I havn't come accross many threads about this topic, I tried searching but found mostly turbo problem threads.

If it is possible etc where can i get one from? Is it likely to improve/worsten performance?

As my car is brand new, will this affect any warrantee issues?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

It will do nothing for performance,

Purely for sound only,

I HAD one but it got on my nerves and even tho i thought it sounded good, i took it off as i reckon i was loosing precious boost when lifting off the gas,

Much better with it off...

www.dervdoctor.co.uk do them if thats your thing

What have you done to yours?

With the extra power you might want to upgrade the standard poo brakes,

£255 will get you the Full 312mm Audi TT setup,

Highly recommended.

And suspension. No use being able to stop and go quickly if you can't put the power down in the middle.

a wastegate is not a dumpvalve

That's what i thought:lol:

The tdi130 has a variable turbo and isn't with a wastegate but has a vnt system.
This system changes the position of the vanes of the compressor wheel at a certain rpm.
The turbo's on a petrol car are with a wastegate. They have a compressor wheel with fixed vanes.

Admittedly I'm being pedantic here, but the VNT doesn't change anything to do with the compressor. It's the turbine side of the turbo we're talking about.

The vanes of the turbine itself are fixed in a VNT turbo, just as they are with any turbo. It would be far too difficult to engineer a turbine with variable vanes that also spins at over 100,000 rpm.

Instead, the VNT mechanism adds an additional set of moving vanes around the outside of the turbine wheel. These moving vanes are attached to the turbine housing, so they don't spin. Instead they just pivot about fixed points so that it alters the angle at which the exhaust gases strike the turbine blades.

Have a look at this page for a really good insight into how these beasts work. In particular, this animated GIF explains it better than words....

My answer is why change someting that works perfectley good ???

These is no need to upgrade the wastgate on most diesel cars.

RE warranty YES this will no doubt make it void if you tamperd with the trubo.

And also will a NEW software codeing that you are thinking of having put in the ecu.

My question is how to change something that isn't there?

There is no way to upgrade the wastegate on cars that don't have it,,,

sorry, couldn't keep it inside,,,
